I seem to remember a few years back, there was rain delays at a PGA tourney. I believe it was Freddie, when asked "how do the rain delays affect you," answered "It's strange to me...I'm from Seattle, and we usually just keep playing."

NHL: I was a Bruins fan when they had Cam Neely and Ray Bourque, but after Neely retired I lost interest. I've warmed up to the Capitals since moving to DC.

I moved to DC in '01 and first started paying attention in '02-'03, which was their last playoff squad. Jagr, Bondra, Gonchar and Konowalchuk (one of my all-time favorite psychotics) were all fun to watch in their own way, even if the team wasn't built with unity in mind.

Now, they are garbage, but Ovechkin's shifts make it more than tolerable.

Nah, I wasn't being serious. I was just tossing some bait out for Trev. Either she has remarkable self restraint or she doesn't know who Shooter McGavin is.

But I have heard a few stories about Couples. Very similar to the kind of stories that are floating around about Mickelson in that he's aledged to be a prick when cameras aren't rolling.

2. I knew I was gonna take a hit for rooting for both the Niners and the Yankees. Splitting college sports set me up for my rebuttal, namely, that it's far more questionable to root for different colleges in different sports than it is to root for pro teams in different cities, given the fact that college teams are far more closely connected to their university than pro teams are to their city.
3. For me personally, the only college sports I pay attention to are football and mens' basketball. I'll root for ND in any sport, but in all likelihood, in any sport other than the two I mentioned, I won't have a clue what's going on unless someone brings it to my attention.

A lot of people have gotten the misperception, I think from Rome, that everyone in this area is a diehard Bills fan. No SUNY school had D-1 sports back then, IIRC. Hell, today UB is the only one with a 1-A football program, and even that is a glorified 1-AA program.
