Maybe we just have different definitions of "from?"
I seem to remember a few years back, there was rain delays at a PGA tourney. I believe it was Freddie, when asked "how do the rain delays affect you," answered "It's strange to me...I'm from Seattle, and we usually just keep playing."
Apparently, Rozy and Freddie have differing opinions on where he's from.
He's also the inspiration for Shooter McGavin.trev wrote:Fred Couples is the hottest golfer ever.

I moved to DC in '01 and first started paying attention in '02-'03, which was their last playoff squad. Jagr, Bondra, Gonchar and Konowalchuk (one of my all-time favorite psychotics) were all fun to watch in their own way, even if the team wasn't built with unity in mind.stuckinia wrote:Ovechkin has made them watchable, but they have been complete horseshit since their Stanley Cup finals appearance. Is it their loveable-loser aspect that makes them appealing?Degenerate wrote:I've warmed up to the Capitals since moving to DC.
Nah, I wasn't being serious. I was just tossing some bait out for Trev. Either she has remarkable self restraint or she doesn't know who Shooter McGavin is.IndyFrisco wrote:Seriously? Which part? Would like to see an article on that.

Agreed as to the part in parens. However, a few points on that:IndyFrisco wrote:College - Texas A&M (This catagory should not be split into different sports)

A lot of people have gotten the misperception, I think from Rome, that everyone in this area is a diehard Bills fan. What they don't realize is that the Bills didn't really become a regional time until the late 80's or early 90's, when, for the first time ever, they became a good team. Many people in this area have other allegiances as a result. Many of the old timers root for either the Giants or the Browns, and some passed that rooting interest onto their kids. Also, nearly every team that had a significantly successful run prior to the Bills becoming a regional team has a healthy fan following here, including the Cowboys, Raiders, Steelers, Dolphins, Vikings, etc. About the sole exception in that regard seems to be the Niners.BSmack wrote:NFL: Steelers. As a child of the 70s, the Bills were not yet a regional team for western NY. By the time they were, I had already chosen my path.
No SUNY school had D-1 sports back then, IIRC. Hell, today UB is the only one with a 1-A football program, and even that is a glorified 1-AA program. My SUNY School had no D-1 sports
Most Yankee fans I know despise Steinbrenner. The ironic thing is, at least on this board, most of the Yankee haters wish Steinbrenner owned their team.Sudden Sam wrote:As a kid, I loved the Yankees. But when Dan Topping sold them and CBS let them go to hell, I started losing interest. Then when Steinbrenner bought them, I hated them even more 'cause I don't like him.
