Why would they even consider it?

I mean, they have Alex "Joe Montana" Smith locked-up long term. Steve Young couldn't carry this guy's jock.

Look for that trophy case to get stuffed full again sometime very soon.

(Weaknesses in Diogenes)

O – Most of the questions entering training camp stem from the offensive side of the ball.

QB: Can Brunell last another season? Will Campbell be ready to replace him? BIGGEST worries stem from this position.

RB: All Portis needs to do is stay healthy. Betts is a perfect backup because he can only handle part time duty before getting hurt. You cannot help but root for Rock.

WR: Moss, Randle-El, Lloyd + OC Saunders = solid, considering Moss did what he did last season completely by himself.

TE: Outside of Cooley, this bunch is weak. Unless the Fauria pick-up pays off.

OL: The starters are top notch, but there is absolutely NO depth. Injuries could fuck this season in the mouth.

D – This unit doesn’t look like much going strictly by names, but I think it can match up with any offense in the NFL

DL: Andre Carter and Cornelius Griffin + a bunch a no names. The Carter pick up alone should limit the number of blitzes needed.

LB: Losing Lavar is addition by subtraction. M Washington is one of the most underrated LBs in the NFL. The rest are not spectacular but they fill their roles.

CB: To be honest, I am worried about this position simply because of Springs health. Carlos should be fine, but the depth is suspect.

S: Archuleta and Taylor = no worries. Well, one worry. Taylor needs to stop shooting at fools.

ST – This unit always seems to be a mystery. Hall (K) was hurt last year and has lost his range. The punters always suck. James Thrash IS the coverage team. I don’t even know who returns kicks besides Betts, but he is usually hurt.

Montana and Young COULD carry Smith's jock, since Smith has the necessary financial situation to arrange such a deal. Unfortunately, they would probably decline as they have more important things to do in life, like raise kids, enjoy their families and not totally suck dick at the quarterback position like their successor.

It must suck being a QB in SF anymore.

You gotta be fucking kidding .

Smith at this point hasn't even performed better than DeBerg , Grbac , Bono , or even Jeff fucking Brohm .

In his 7 games as a starter , he has led the worst offense on a team that historically had some great offenses . Hell , he even might have led the worst offense historically in the entire league .

Now , a lot of that has to do with the state of the team last season ( injuries , scrub players as starters , etc. ) , but Smith can't sniff Y.A. Tittle's or John Brodie's jocks at this point , let alone Montana's , or Young's .

Iggles

McNabb was called out by TO and it ended up splitting the locker room. No team can win if half the locker room doesn't like the QB. He's been doing some damage control during the off-season but this is a legit concern.

Reid wants to get back to a more balanced offense or least back to running the ball more. Moats showed flashes of being a dangerous weapon and Westbrook is one of the more dangerous receiving backs in the NFL but neither is going to translate to a bona fide RB unless Reid commits to running the ball more. Don't count on it.

TO's departure leaves the Eagles with a receiving corp that has some promise but nothing you can point to and feel good about. Reggie Brown had a nice rookie season. He has the potential to be really good but potential is not what the Eagles need right now. Another major concern.

Injuries killed the Eagles last year among other issues and the team addressed the lack of depth through the draft. They seem pretty solid at the OL and DL positions and they have some increased speed at the LB position. They Eagles have never had a LB that could line up on the LOS over the TE and be a pass rush threat.. look for Gocong to be that type of player.

The Defense in general will need to stay healthy and generate that deadly pass rush that make them lethal during the SB run. Signing Howard was a nice move, Kearse probably has 1-2 good years left in him and the middle of the line should be stronger. The secondary is one of the best but only if there is a pass rush. I think Jim Johnson has a few tricks up his sleave for this season.

Overall, I think the defense will return to form but the offense has some major question marks as does the team leadership.

Yeah, I kinda expressed my disappointment with Smith by comparing him to Montana and Young.

Maybe I should back away from those advanced literary techniques.

Well , there ya go .

Maybe you should hope that Smith could at least sniff Garcia's jock . That could help you .

I'm just here to rack a fellow 'Skins fan, Stuck in IA, for a flawless breakdown. Can't disagree with a bit of it.
