It's now hit 90 before noon.

30% humidity(so much for that "maximum humidity 28% forecast).

Whatever. Matter of fact, the weathersissies make it easier to nab up the Twighlight Special tee times, so that's what I'm doing.

$10 to go play Heron Lakes or Eastmoreland works for me. 105 degrees be damned...that's why God gave us beer cart girls.

Mind picking up my Titleist outta one of those swamps at Great Blue? I think it was that par 3 over water on the back... the one after the par four w/water down the entire left side.

Believe it or not, I've never played Great Blue. Not sure how I've made it all of these years, but somehow I've never played it.

I've heard it's pretty freaking tough.

Recently, on the radio sports station, the golf show guys were telling the tale of Neil Lomax' Quarterback Shootout(which isn't just for NFL quarterbacks anymore), when the show hosts told the story of watching Danny Ainge and Terry Porter putting out on a 385 yard par 4...pin out and everything...then, I believe it was Steve Buerline teed off, and the sucker bounced up on the green, and trickled in the hole. Acing a par 4 in a celebrity tourney wouldn't suck.

But anyhoo, the $10 deal is only on Greenback, which isn't all that tough.

Walking through all of the goose and heron shit all over every farway is kinda lame, though...the towel is pretty clutch at Heron Lakes.

Figured out where you're playing in August yet?

Played a few times in 100+ weather when I was a kid in the Bay Area.

One time a the home course we started out walking (we always walked back then), and it got so hot that most everybody else packed it in. Around the 3rd hole we found an abandoned cart. This caused us some concern, for obvious reasons, so we tried to get it started which was accomplished by pushing the gas pedal. Ended up playing 36 that day with a cart on an empty course.

Looks like a customer may be joining me... which opens the door for many more possibilities ('sup expense account?). Pumpkin Ridge may come into play. Isn't the JenWeld played there in late August though? It may be closed. If not, it tops my list right now. If so, will be heading east somewhere as per yours and Derron's suggestions again.

No. The JeldWen Tradition is at The Reserve Vinyards, right in Aloha.(Up the street from Intel...D'OH!)

Pumpkin...another place I've never played, oddly enough. Even more odd, since one of my golf buds is a member there. The private side, Witch Hollow is the toughest rated course in the entire state. It's also where Tiger won 2 of his 3 Am Championships, and recently hosted the Women's US Open.

What's fucked, is my sources tell me the pen was about to hit the paper to bring the US Open to Pumpkin, then JeldWen went and fucked that up by buying the Tradition. I'd take one US Open over a geriatric major every year.

It may be closed. If not, it tops my list right now.

Shouldn't be a problem, but this weekend I'll probably be talking to someone who will know for sure.

If so, will be heading east somewhere as per yours and Derron's suggestions again.

From this I take it you realize Pumpkin is wayyyy out west, but an easy drive from where you're staying(as per earlier posts...sup Dins hood, except I'm on the "poor side" of I-5 from there...right on the other side of I-5 from there).

I keep meaning to hit The Reserve, too...one of these days. Any course where they hold Majors can't be too bad. Might not be a bad bet if you can't do Pumpkin...I guess the "east of Portland" requirement isn't so carved in stone these days. Speaking of which, I might be staying up at Mt Hood in a couple of weeks or so, so I might just have to pund out 27 or so at The Resort(what a cocky name).

Look for Dick Wendt to become more of a playa in the golf promo business. Him and Peter are doing some major things as in the Tradition... and ditto I would rather see the US Open than the Tradition.

Dick Wendt's interest in golf promotion might, possibly just have something to do with his ownership of :

and he probably bought another one this week.

Nice tract....it has a 6 inch sand cap, so it plays real well in our wet weather.....Ridgefield or Twin Peaks or whatever the fuck it is called has a sand cap as well.

Call me a freak(like that needs prompting), but the heat has never really bothered me, except the other side of the mountains, with its 0.00% humidity.

Throw The Dalles on that pile...what a miserable shithole. 105 freaking degrees all summer, 0.0& humidity, with that constant 50mph wind to keep you nice and dry. Bet it's a real hoot in The Dalles today. Then again, any time a city name contains the word "The," it probably sucks.

Well...Hillsboro (nearest National Weather Service location to me) just ties it's hottest temp ever at 108.

But hey, at least the blistering sun isn't an issue...SINCE IT'S NOW ALMOST OVERCAST, WITH HUMIDITY SOMEWERE AROUND 1000%.

But hey, at least it only took me an hour or so to go 15 miles down the freeway in my non-AC ride(the black interior helps, too).

We had that last night, it was the first time I've ever seen it 102 and thunderstorms at 11 PM.....I was absolutely brutal "at night!"
We understand it a damned blast furnace here in July and August but that was pretty nasty.

As for the Mexicans,
It probably sucked ass out their picking fruits and veggies today, unfortunately for them, July and August are the busiest months of the year round here.............

Had a blissfull COOL front move into KC today and dump a few inches of much needed rain.

It was almost downright chilly here this morning when the wind started picking up.

Temp right now is a perfect 74 degrees.

We set a record here today.

The pool got up to 89 deg this afternoon, and I haven't run the solar in over a month. I know that's still relatively chilly by SW Florida retirement village standards ('sup wolfie) but around here it's almost spa temperature.

10:30, it's 81, completely overcast, and I'm going to have to call bullshit on the 60% humidity reading that's published. Humidity can't be less than 178% right now.

I missed my first ride to the river for a raft trip. 8:30 was a little early even for me to start drinking. I will be catching the nect ride out, in a couple of hours...not sure if there's enough water in the Clack to float all of the people heading there today. If not, surely some of the hardbodies will get out on the banks to lighten the load on the water's surface.

And no, Dins' hottie first mate won't be making it today...:sadface:. Might just have to recruit a new one. Because I'm kinda smooth like that.
