$1,300 per second..
Exxon earned $114 million per day in the second quarter. That's $79,000 per minute or $1,300 per second.
ExxonMobil (XOM, news, msgs) earned more than $10 billion in the second quarter as high oil prices continue to swell the bottom lines of big oil companies.
So, the nest time you go to the pump, you will know how much you are really getting PUMPED!!!

Roach, Are you are Psychologist?? Catching the Freudian slip!! (I'm impressed!!)Roach wrote:Rack Jack.
I wonder how much "the war" is costing us per second , or hour. Seems like I figured once, in the 70's, when I was draftable, that the Viet Nam war cost about 2 mil per day. What a deal by today's standards.
Your Fruedian slip there, (nesttime) might refer to your nest egg IRA or 401k. Are you invested in the oil companies?
There's a dilema for ya.
And rack Patsy. It does cause a feeling of helpless.
Yes, I have stock in XOM and it's done well but the stock is not making anywhere near the gains that the company is making.
In other words, my $5,000 invested 10 years ago is worth about $20,000.
It would have been wiser to invest in Apple Computer (up 1200 % in 3 yrs vs XOM up 300% in 10 years). I still haven't put any money in AAPL. :x
and yes, Gas Prices make me feel helpless because I still drive and still heat my house.
but Imagine, a company making a profit of $1300/ second!!
Congress has been urging the big oil companies to put more of their profits toward boosting the supply of energy for consumers.
Wait, there is the joke of the year!!!

Can anyone top that joke???

Per Hour $10.18 million
Per minute $180,000
Per second $3000
These costs are expected to rise as time goes on.
I'm guessing you assume all that tax caysh goes to that. I already drive on highways filled w/ potholes!!!!!!!!!!111 wtf?!!!!!! these roads should be paved in gold with the tax revenues generated.Felix wrote:I'm guessing you enjoy driving on rutted highways filled with pot holes.....titlover wrote:how come you guys never bitch about the tax on gas never decreasing? why doesn't Congress work on that?
