The first and second picks in the 2007 draft will go to...
Barring trades, who do you think will "earn" the #1 and #2 picks in next year's draft?
#1: J-E-S-T, JEST! JEST! JEST!
They'd be better off with Ty Pennington under center, Curtis Mahtin may finally be done and their coach's name is one scant letter away from being "Mangina." The only thing that may save them from the #1 pick is that they have Detroit, Buffalo, Houston and Oakland on their schedule.
#2: New Orleans Saints
Unless, of course, they can find a way to get Bush out there on defensive plays. They're a team who has consistently found a way to Paul... err... shit the bed when handed a golden opportunity. Plus they play in one of the toughest divisions in football. Plus they've also got a QB with a shredded shoulder. Plus they've got a rookie head coach. Plus they're just not that good.

I'm looking forward to the obligatory collective, loud BOOOOOS and cussing from the crowd of the commissioner and immediately following the selection, no matter whom they pick.Red wrote:#1: J-E-S-T, JEST! JEST! JEST!

Their O/U is 7.0 wins this year. They won three games last season and have a rookie HC. You really think they're going to be a .500 or better club?TenTallBen wrote:The Saints are going to be better than expected this year.
I'd say...
Houston and S.F.

And how long has itg been since the loser of a Super Bowl even made the playoffs the following year?
I see Seattle with a bit of a drop off, probably 9-7 and a wild card bearth. 10-6 is conservative for the Cards, considering they have 4 free games in their division (ST Louis and San Fran) and will go 4-0 or 3-1 aginst the AFC Worst (Denver is a toss-up). They've improved their only real offensive weakness, their line, added James as a RB, Rolle is healthy in the secondary, and overall they are vastly underrated.
Lienart is still an idiot, but he isn't starting this year anyway.

Let me know when Jammer can go an entire quarter without a turnover or a drive saving penelty, or when you get a quality #2 WR.mvscal wrote:I laughed.Diogenes wrote:The Cards should go about 10-6 and win the NFC west (barring leading the NFL in injuries for the second straight year, of course).
Look for Gates and LT to lead the league in passing yards at their positions again this year. They'll have to.

Alex Smith has a breakout year, making his value increase dramatically, which allows the Niners to trade his overpriced ass...
so they can use another #1 pick on a QB that they can then train and also overpay.
Terry has his thinking cap on today, eh?
Hey Terry...do you got change for a $5? I need it to put some ones in the $5 bill dispenser.

Jammer is worse than useless, and you're a fucking idiot if you think having him as a starting CB is 'fine'. Unless you're betting on the opposing team beating the over on recieving yards every week. The reason your #2 WR is fourth option at best is that they are all trash, all opponents need to do is double McCardell and play man against whatever scrub is on the otherside leaving 8 players to focus on the run. Your secondary as a whole is a mess, your coach is a idiot, and you're going to be lucky to get 6 wins.mvscal wrote:Jammer is fine. He wasn't worth the fifth pick, but he's OK. A "quality #2 WR" is not needed in this offense. In this offense, the #2 WR is the fourth option at best. The ferocious Eric Parker is up to the task of being the fourth wheel.Diogenes wrote:Let me know when Jammer can go an entire quarter without a turnover or a drive saving penelty, or when you get a quality #2 WR.

Actually I think the Seahawks will get in, probably as a WC. But there is probably going to be a letdown, and the Cards have improved in all areas (except maybe QB) through the draft, free agency and players getting healthy.mvscal wrote:You're in sad shape, if that's what you're counting on and you're dreaming if you think the Cards will ever be able to capitalize on any letdown.Diogenes wrote:And how long has itg been since the loser of a Super Bowl even made the playoffs the following year?
Too bad they don't get to kick the shit out of the Dolts till the end of the season, by that tiome they should have locked up the division at best, WC at least, and the Dolts will be battling for the celler.

Another dipshit basing his idiocy on last season's injuries. Not only are all the players except Ross healthy, but they added depth via the draft and picked up a new offensive co-ordinator.
You should worry about your own O-line, dumbfuck.
And recievers.
And secondary.

In a way, it would be nice to see Alex Smith have a breakout year. But I'm not sold on him, whereas I think Quinn is going to be the real deal in the NFL.Dinsdale wrote:mvscal wrote: That will never happen even if they do get the #1 (which they won't).

If you've got a truly great QB, it's impossible to overpay him. Joe Montana out front should have told you that.
As for it "never" happening, Quinn will be the #1 pick next year barring injury or a complete flameout, so the team with the #1 pick will in all likelihood either pick him or trade the pick.

I like the Bills and the Packers to lock down the 1 and 2 draft picks by mid December.

So did I. I hadn't realized that AZ's small fanbase and their myopia had escaped the 602 area code. Edge will spend most of his time blocking and Warner/Leinert will spend most of the season trying to stay off of the IR. There is no offensive line in AZ to speak of.

In case you haven't noticed, this board is infested with AFC Worst backers. I don't know if there is a single Seahawk or Ram fan here, and smacking the 49erfans is way too easy.Joe in PB wrote:The only guy in the forum who talks more about another team than his own pitiful league worst over the last 10 years Cardinals.Diodunce wrote:Another dipshit basing his idiocy on last season's injuries. Why would I waste my time with a useless bet?
I already posted that I doubt the Bolts & Tards make the playoffs.
Lets keep it simple, Tardinals Vs Bolts on Dec 31st for a sig bet. Loser gets to wear a sig until the of start next season (as in regular season).

Does that mean the bet is a push if both make it, or both don't?

Let me go back to this:
On the one hand, I get pounded as a bandwagon jumper for being a Niners fan. On the other hand, I get Cardinals fan, of all people, running "your team sucks" smack on me?
:? :brad:
Of course, both takes can't possibly be correct. Truth is, neither one is, but then again, that's another topic altogether.
