i've posted before that i'm a big fan of his "noir" flicks Drunken Angel, teh Bad Sleep Well, High and Low, and Stray Dog.....
but, i got the new DVD print of Kagemusha (not a "noir", but medievel Japan) from the media library where i work and it rocks. my buddy told me the old print was jacked up in some way....but i'd never seen it.
Kagemusha: highly recommended.

Saw Kagemusha on IFC a few months ago and it was outstanding. Just reconfirmed for me the genius of Kurosawa.
KC, one of his more underrated films, as least in my travels, is his last: Dreams. It is a serious of vignettes ranging from nature to a post apocalypse world to my favorite, an art lover who steps into a painting of Van Gogh's and meets the master himself.
The cinematography on the movie is incredible and the colors are especially vibrant.

Right. Because unlike you, I actually respond to Vic. He's a funny poster
My fiancee turned me on to Kurosawa, although I had seen Seven Samurai previously. I was quite surprised to find out she was a fan, but she was quick to point out he did a lot more than Samurai flicks. We most recently watched Red Beard (or whatever it's called in Japanese) which was quite intense. I highly recommend it.
