Brett Favre calls a news conference

Post by BSmack »

For 12:30 p.m. EDT today.

Could it be that the Aaron Rodgers era is upon us?

Doubful... I think he's going to announce a partnership with the makers of Vicodin.

Troll train, anyone?

That's gonna really be fucked up if he is announcing retirement. What a shitty thing to do. He holds the Packers hostatge by not making up his mind on what his plans are. The Packers just might have wanted to draft a QB.

In any case, if he retires, m200l can now claim 2 starting QBs from Tedford.

He if he decides this late to retire that will be pretty fucked up. Indy's right. He held the team hostage all preseason. If he wanted to retire he should have done so in February, thus letting Rodgers get the majority of the snaps during summer and Training Camp. For an organization who has done so much for him and been patient w/ him, this is a big FUCK YOU if he pulls the trigger.

Could be announcing his retirement at the end of this season. This way he gets cheered everywhere he goes and maybe gets a gift or two out of it. Kinda like Roger Clemens. Only he came back.......

From sportsline.com
Brett Favre, QB GB
News: Contrary to Internet reports, Packers QB Brett Favre's 12:30 a.m. ET press conference is expected to be "nothing out of the ordinary," according to an NFL source and will not be the announcement of his retirement, according to well placed Packers sources. Favre simply moved up his press conference to earlier in the day and has held his preseason press conferences on Wednesdays all year long.

Fester,

It’s just jealousy. Favre is a great quarterback playing for the greatest franchise in pro football history. Unfortunately, with or without Favre, this will not be the year where we pick up NFL title #13.

I'm not sessed about it. I was just saying it would be shitty of him to do it now in the preseason if he did it at all.

Personally, I could care less about Favre. In my book, he's one of the most overrated QBs of all time.

I hear the overrated tag placed on Favre all the time and I really wonder if one making such a statement knows a damn thing about football.

For starters, can you name the other QBs who have been league MVP three times .... ?

Favre has not missed a start for 14 straight years.
He's a freaking iron man supreme, and if you can't recognize the stability this brings to a team then you're essentially clueless.

In those 14 years his team has had a losing record exactly ONE time.

8 of those teams won 10 or more games.

6 times he's led his team to a divison title.

He led his team to 2 conference titles and one world championship.

He's 2nd all-time in completions, yds, and passing tds.

Perhaps Brett gets his schlong sucked by broadcasters like none other and THAT is what makes you see him as an 'overrated' player, I dunno.

He's an ELITE player.

His resume shows, without question, that he's on the very short list of greatest QBs ever to lace 'em up.

DING DING DING! We have a winner.

He's a great player. He's not the walk on water GOD the media makes him out to be. And his TD to Int ratio has always hurt him. Yeah, he's an iron man no doubt. I'm just not as high up on the guy as the media would like me to be.

Regarding Brett’s TD to INT ratio, here’s how he stacks up with some of the more recent additions to the Hall of Fame:

Player TD INT
Favre 396 255
Marino 420 252
Montana 273 139
Elway 300 222
Fouts 252 242
Aikman 165 141
Bradshaw 212 210
Kelly 237 175

Favre’s TD to INT ratio is better than all but Montana and Marino, and prior to last year he was about dead even with Marino.

I would personally like to see Favre break Marino's TD record this year.

He'll have that and the INT record before the year is out.

Geez, Brett Favre overrated? What more could the guy have done?

That label can truly apply to a lot of people, but Favre?

That's just crazy.
