Is Craig Biggio A HoFer

Post by indyfrisco »

Ok, I don't want to post a poll where trolls can post their votes. I'm serious about this.

I'm a huge 'Stros fan, but I do not think Biggio has done enough to make it into the HoF. If he gets to 3,000, I think he deserves it.

So, my question is....

As of TODAY, is Craig Biggio a HoFer in your book? Say yes. Sy no. Say yes or no with a reason which is preferrable.

For me, I really cannot put him in. I grew up with bags as my favorite player and Biggio as #2 for me. I think Bags roided out and Big has really taken his place in my mind. No matter, I still don't think Big has done enough to this point to be a HoFer.

So, my questions are this, and anser them all please...

Name your team affiliation:
Is Biggio a HoFer today:
If Biggio gets to 3,000, will he be a HoFer:

My answers:

Astros
No
Yes

all I can say...is measure him up vs. RYNO @ 2nd base.

2nd Base Stats only.

most will remember Bigg @ 2nd Base.....forgetting that he started as a Catcher....and is now in the outfield.

Bigg will get in......eventually.

Cubs, 'Tribe

Compare his numbers to everyone on the list at the bottom of the page.

Better numbers than every one of them including Alomar who just might be the best 2b ever. Better than Yount, Morgan, Sandberg, Larkin, Gehringer, etc. etc. etc.

While I agree with Adelle concerning his Carter comment, with Sandberg and Carter in there is simply no way Biggio ISN'T a lock TODAY. The numbers simply can't be argued with. And I am really not biased in this matter as I have made my frequent angst toward Biggio quite apparent over the years on these boards.

Word.

The HoF ain't what it use to be.
Biggio isn't a Gibson, Ruth, Koufax HoF guy.
Biggio is a Sutton, Perry, Carter HoF guy.

Yankees
Yes, but not on the first ballot
Yes (I could be wrong about this, but I don't think any member of the 3000 hit club after the turn of the last century ever has not been a first ballot HOFer)

Dodgers fan here.

This is a no-brainer. Hall of Famer for sure.

Remember, Biggio played for years in a notorious pitchers' park for most of his career (Astrodome) and his numbers are still better than Sandberg and Alomar. Of the three, Biggio has the most career runs, doubles, total bases, and also has the highest on-base percentage of the three (.372). Biggio has the same fielding percentage as Alomar and a higher range factor. Biggio's 4 Gold Gloves speak to his fielding ability.

Biggio is now 9th all time in doubles, 19th in runs scored (should pass Molitor and Ted Williams this year to get to 16th), should get to 3,000 hits or damn close, 260+ homers, 400+ steals

Comparing Biggio with Gary Carter is asinine.

My two cents:

If he gets to 3,000 hits: yes.
If not: no.

I guess you found a bunch of weak sucks that just want to voice a one word opinion without having any gumption to back it.

RACK my ole brothah Flawed. Nice to see ya around again...

Biggio is first ballot. Period. Now AND next year when he gets to 3000. Noone have an argument against the stats?
