Anyone see the end of Duke-VaTech?
Best final minute of any game I've seen this year, by far.
There were so many big plays in the last minute alone in that game, I'm surprised Mike Patrick didn't have a coronary with his repaired ticker.
That game was one of many that came down to the final shot or hit OT or multiple OTs this year. Not sure if that's a good sign for this year's tourney, but I'd sure as hell would like to think so.
Damn, March can't get here soon enough. War having March 17-20 already off.

Props to the Hokies...a very lackluster effort from the Devils. 3-4 in their last seven...that's definitely going to hurt their chances of getting a #1 or #2 seed. If they can somehow beat Wake and UNC and win the ACC title, they might creep back into that spot but they don't look like they're capable of that. A good run in the ACC tournament will atleast keep them in the #3 range.

Thoughts:
#1. Game was SO much better, because we didn't have to suffer through 2 hours of that fucker Duke Vitale's schrill!
Patrick - Elmore are a solid broadcast team.
I like Nessler - (________) too
#2. I think anyone with a brain can see that Duke misses Luol Deng. They are basically a "Three" deep team. Ewing, Reddick and Williams. Stop one or two of those guys, you win.
#3. I see Duke missing the sweet -16. Unless they get
ungodly treatment, and get a high seed, and two patsies in the sub-regional. If they pick up a Wisc. or a Tx. Tech, a team along those lines in that 2nd round. Bye-Bye, Dook.
#4. I fully expect Wake, Ga Tech AND UNC to beat them, with Maryland getting the Tri-fecta in the ACC Tourny. That's 4 more losses, making their total bulge to EIGHT, as they enter the Dance! Thus Duke will be a #4 seed, at the highest. #5 is probably where they deserve to be, after watching them intently for 7 games this year, I can assure you they aren't all that.

If Ewing hits the final shot last night, there'd be none of this talk of Duke being anything lower than a No. 2 seed. I still think they'll make it there, and to the third round, no matter who they play.

The Devils can still make a run in the tournament. Outside of the top 5 teams, I see a big mass of clubs that can be interchangeable. If Illinois, Kansas, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Kentucky get knocked out early...anyone could win the whole thing.
Last night aside, I just don't see Dook as a 2 seed. The top of the ACC is strong no doubt, but I don't see 3 of the top 8 being ACC teams. I think Wake and UNC finish ahead of Dook and have better conference tourneys. Dook is likely a 3 seed, but could slip to a 4 seed depending on how things shake out.
Odds are they don't go beyond the Sweet 16 this year, but you never know what'll happen when the ball is tipped come tourney time. Steve Fisher went to 3 FF's for fucks sake!!!

"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
I don't think so, especially if they win at UNC and win the ACC tournament, which is very possible, imo. In that scenario, I could see the committee putting 3 ACC teams amid the top 8 seeds, easily.Shine wrote:Last night aside, I just don't see Dook as a 2 seed. That conference tourney is going to be interesting this year, to say the least.
I hope they're knocked out in the first round, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made it to a regional final.Shine wrote:Odds are they don't go beyond the Sweet 16 this year, but you never know what'll happen when the ball is tipped come tourney time.

We had a one point gm. with :30 ticks left @ Cameroon. Ewing bailed you out. (Not to mention many missed FT by us.)helmet wrote:Sucks that MSU got beaten by a team that isn't all that.MSUFAN wrote:after watching them intently for 7 games this year, I can assure you they aren't all that.
U GOT BEAT BY VA. TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
Notice anything different there?

& "IF" Ewing misses against us, we have ball, and take lead by one, very late, if any time left at all.
WFT is your point!?
Duke was SOUNDLY handled by a Technical College from Virginia.
That finish was never in doubt! You had to rally, just to make it close!

Dude. What team exactly ARE you watching? Is it the same Dook team thatRadioFan wrote:I don't think so, especially if they win at UNC and win the ACC tournament, which is very possible, imo. runs THREE players worth a shit out there for 37 min. per game?
The next three you offer are marginal at best!
You're headed for 8 losses going into the Dance, and SHOULD be a #5, but will get the K treatment and grab a #4, no doubt.
Next 4 losses -
Wake , Ga. Technical, UNC and prolly Maryland for the THREE- PETE!!
That makes EIGHT. Tell me that's a 3 or 2 seed!
Deal.

Whatever way you spin it, it's a W for Duke and a L for MSU.MSUFAN wrote:We had a one point gm. with :30 ticks left @ Cameroon. Ewing bailed you out. Duke has beaten plenty of ranked teams the past three years... how about Michigan State?
Interesting analysis, considering the Blue Devils were ahead at halftime, and led for most of the game.MSUFAN wrote:Duke was SOUNDLY handled by a Technical College from Virginia.

Btw, I hate Duke, so you can drop the "you're" references. I was simply being objective about their chances in a best-case (for them) scenario.

No they WEREN'T ahead for most of the game.
In the 2nd half, Va. Technical was ahead almost the whole time, and was pulling away slightly, until they let Duke back in that last minute. Not saying Dook didn't have some leads, but Va. Technical led most of that 2nd half, bubba.
That's UN-Ranked Technical of Virginia.

Just studied the espn play by play:
1st half, Va Tech led for a total of 11:00 min., and built a
SOLID 8 point lead at one point.
Start of 2nd half had Dook ahead ever so slightly for the
first 11:25, but at 8:35 to go, Technical goes ahead for the entire rest of the game, except for two brief moments. One was a Reddick 2pointer with about 4:00 to go, and then for :10 seconds Duke took the lead on Reddicks SICK 3-pointer with only :35 ticks left.
And you all sw the finish.
I submit that Va Technical, an UN-ranked TEN loss team, controlled, and handled Duke for the better part of that game.
Like I said, if dook doesn't get a creampuff draw in their first two potential contests, I see them being gone before the 3rd round. But, as we've seen too many brackets now, they'll get two nobodies. In fact, even when they lose 8 games, they will still get a #3. Because that means they wouldn't play the #1 seed until the regional Finals. At worst, they'd go against a #2 to get to that game. If the committee does what they SHOULD do, Duke is a 4 or even 5, after what I've seen from them. And would have a much tougher time of it to make the Gr.-8.
Can't wait.

4 or 5, huh? Fortunately, the NCAA committee lives in the real world and doesn't let partisan hatred influence its decisions. Let's see, close losses at Maryland, Wake, and Va Tech. No real shame there (though VT certainly the worst of the 3) . Keep in mind, EVERY team in America gets jacked up to play Duke (remember Breslin last year?). They get everyone's "A" game. Think the Twerps were stoked for visiting Clemson last night? Probably not. So sure, Duke has 4 losses....tonight's game vs. Ga. Tech is a toss-up, and Carolina is a likely "L" and the ACC Tournament is also a toss-up, but if they lose, it'll probably be to Wake or Carolina. Again, no shame. This team has overacheieved all year and deserves a 3 seed. 2 might be a little high but 4 or 5? Hardly.

Duke has only 4 losses and 4 wins against top 25 opponents (including Michigan State). Michigan State has 4 losses and 0 wins against top 25 opponents and if they don't beat Wisconsin tomorrow night, they'll have the 0-for this year against ranked opponents and for the last two seasons also. Tell me again why State should be ahead of Duke in the rankings and in tournament seeding?
