Fester and his basement full of Hamm's is the sole reason Minnie/St. Paul is at #2. If it weren't for Fester, the Twin Cities wouldn't make the list.

#3 Columbus, Ohio

State Laws 7 - score out of 8
Drinkers 17 -rank out of 35
Heavy Drinkers 2 -rank out of 35
Binge Drinkers 5 -rank out of 35
Alcoholism 6 -rank out of 35

We could have been #1 if Karen Holbrook wasn't tOSU president. Her legacy is a special drink known as "The Holbrook" - any form of adult beverage placed into a soda can!

If the Packers play like they did last year, that shouldn't be a problem for you, EM. Then again, it would also solidify Milwaukee's #1 position as well.

Bullshit survey. It's hard to pinpoint the "drunkest city," as I occasionally travel the western US.

The Shadow of drunken Dins appears
Ass winds both foul & vile he does form
Down in Portland he loved a lady
Her name unknown …

Here besides him stands Moorese
A lawyer by the looks of him
Who bailed Dins out of many jails
But lost his car key’s …

No shit. Oswego, NY would drink Milwaukee under the table. The city has a population of 20k and it supports at least 80 bars that I can barely remember. Never mind the house parties.

#15 is Denver! I thought we'd be at least in the Top 10 considering this is a beer drinkers paradise with all the local microbrews that are housed in just about every sports bar. But I guess we're not drinking enough of it!

Sorry, but the survey did not include meth production.

No shit. Oswego, NY would drink Milwaukee under the table.
In your fucking dreams.
As early as 1843, pioneer historian James Buck recorded 138 taverns in Milwaukee, an average of one per forty residents!
And if they had included Madison in that survey, Milwaukee would have been no better than #2.

We're not talking about 1843. I'm talking about right now.

Oswego is built to party. Let me know when the police chief in Milwaukee is fired for enforcing the 21 drinking age and we can talk.

http://www.oswegocountybusiness.com/iss ... port4.html

And let's not forget the Bridge Street "Run".
In the City of Oswego, New York, college students from the State University of New York at Oswego participate in a yearly pub crawl known as the Bridge Street Run on the final day of classes at the college. Students travel to approximately 20 different bars on Bridge Street, the main thoroughfare located in the city, over a distance of 2 miles drinking at least one alcoholic beverage at each bar. Hundreds upon hundreds of students wearing white t-shirts line the 2 mile stretch of Bridge Street. White shirts are worn,, everyone carries a marker pen, and vital information is written on the t-shirt, such as: Beers drank, Kisses, Shots, Bars, and whatever else one feels inclined to keep track of. These shirts are signed by friends and other random fellow Bridge Street Runners along the way.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pub_crawl

Half the population of Oswego are college students. That alone should tell you something.

“some alleged”. Not necessarily a fact, according to your link. Regardless, Wisconsin wrote the book on alcohol abuse. Last time I checked, #1 in the nation in per capita consumption of both beer and brandy. UW is consistently ranked at or near the top of the party school rankings.

Of course, Wisconsin stands out only in relation to the rest of the US in terms of beer consumption. We don’t hold a candle to the Czechs, or even the Irish. And the number one city in the world for beer consumption is located in Australia and goes by the name of Darwin.

I'm struck by the magazine's use of a slideshow featuring an assortment of metrosexual douches posing with freeze frame sitcom laughter replete with plastic smiles and color enhanced beverages instead of publishing a simple table of information. The only visuals we need are pictures of actual venues in those 35 cities, or if you want to save cashe just thieve some trollstop pics. And if you really want to send a message, slap up a picture of Dinsdale's liver.

Just a nice little euphemism so the Oswego County Business Magazine can avoid being sued for libel. Anybody who ever lived in Oswego knows the real story. That city is run like Tammany Hall era New York.
Regardless, Wisconsin wrote the book on alcohol abuse. Last time I checked, #1 in the nation in per capita consumption of both beer and brandy.
Which has nothing to do with the subject at hand. We are talking about the "drunkest cities". I will give you that Wisconsin is the drunkest state.
UW is consistently ranked at or near the top of the party school rankings.
Another bullshit ranking. Let me know when they include small schools.

Just wait until MADD gets ahold of them. They won't know what hit 'em.

They do. Lehigh is #3. SUNY-Albany is #5. And UW is #1.

http://encarta.msn.com/college_article_ ... tiest.html

But face it, Genesseo Tech, or wherever it was that you attended will never be able to recruit like the UW. And Wisconsin is the drunkest state because it’s made up of the drunkest cities and towns. Burp.

Geneseo ain't no party town. You can have fun there, but its pretty laid back and they've spent too much time cultivating their image of being the "Harvard of SUNY" to allow anything like a party atmosphere develop. Besides, they're starting to crack down on off campus living by forcing students to live on campus for their first 3 years. Which means that the number of potential places for off campus keggers will dry up big time. But even when I was there, Geneseo was as much about academics as it was about party time.

No, the school I was referring to was SUNY Oswego, where I also spent some time during my salad days. Oswego has no pretensions about being an "elite" school, though the quality of instruction was as good as what I received at Geneseo. Furthermore, the City of Oswego understands that the 9000 students at SUNY Oswego represent a very nice source of income to the city and are usually content to let kids be kids within certain very loose guidelines.

Oh, and did I mention that Oswego gets somewhere in the area of 200 inches of snow a year? And there's pretty much nothing to do but drink once the snow starts flying? No D1 sports, no big concerts, no world renown art galleries, cheese factories or Packers games to roadie to. Nope, the ONLY thing to do in Oswego is to drink.
