No one is impressed by your flashing earbud. No one imagines that you're so fucking important that you can't - not for a freaking minute - put the phone away. Just fucking answer your cell when you get a call, then put it the hell away.

Why are people still buying these things? A $60K vehicle that requires another $60K annually to fuel, and yet another $60K to insure?

The folks that do buy these things...what the hell is wrong with them? They drive as if their vehicle shipped with permission to drive like fucking maniacs in traffic...snapping in and out of lanes, doing 55 on residential streets, cutting people off...

It doesn't bother me if someone chooses to spend that kind of money on an ugly, fuel-guzzling truck if they can afford it. I do have a problem with the people who drive with an overblown sense of self-importance that makes them feel like they don't need to use signal lights, or stop for pedestrians. Being on the road for ten hours a day I've learned to be extra cautious around people in Hummers, Escalades, and BMWs because they seem to be the most likely to drive without any courtesy for their fellow motorists. And that's saying something considering how poorly people drive in this city.

The reason bluetooth earpieces are annoying goes beyond how they make the people who use them look like douchebags. Them and the Blackberry Zombies make nagivating office buildings almost as hazardous as it is on the streets.

But I'd still take these minor annoyances over having to dodge IEDs on the way to work, or the other crap people have to deal with in the less privileged areas of the world. Think about that when you're bitching about long weekend traffic.

I'll tell you what -- I've used his Razr a few times, and that is easlily the biggest POS phone I've ever used. And its owner (who's also owned a pile of phones) agrees. It was the cheapest one they had at the time...and it shows. Since he got it, I can barely hear him when we talk.

I wish I never would have broken my old Sanyo phone...easily the best I've had. Ran that sucker over with the truck and it still worked for a long time, and always had crystal-clear reception.

People are still buying the Hummer, I believe, for these reasons.
1)Made in the USA(or more than half of it is)
2)It's military lineage makes buyers think they are more secure,
less prone to breakdowns.
3)It's now a proven vehicle..some buyers are aware that some companies are
still in their SUV-building infancy, and the bugs aren't gone yet...a should-be-a-red-flag
signal on most days.
4)Some buyers realize that while DaimChry, Honda, et al have attempted to
boost sales by cramming their vehicles with techie junk, undue attention
has been paid to the electronic wizardry, while quality issues such as fit and finish
have fallen off ,and naturally,so has resale value.

I've heard mixed reviews about the razr. The latest was a glowing one, this not from a youngin' looking for something flashy and sleek but from a professional sales manager. Easy to navigate and user friendly. On the flipside, I've heard the razr's reception ain't all that good... something I'm concerned about seeing as how at times I'm in relatively unpopulated areas. Speaking of which, to answer one of the original questions of the original poster, YES, cell phones themselves do make a difference regarding reception. Both with Verizon or Sprint or whomever, one phone may have inferior or superior reception to the other.

biggest drawback to the razr phone is battery life. stand-by time isn't anyfucking where close to advertised. if you use it for more than a couple-three calls a day, you need to put it on the charger every night for a full recharge, otherwise, you'll run out of battery by the middle of the next day.

they include a free adapter so you can use a wired headset/earpiece instead of the bluetooth.

I have a blue tooth ear piece that came with the phone, but haven't used it for quite a while. I did use it while driving when I first got it because the hands free thing made it easier to drive and conversate. I could voice dial thru my GPS and never have to touch a thing, but the fucker never fit right and was not comfortable.

The concept is good, but they need to lose the ear bud and go with something invisible. That way when I'm walking around and looking like I'm talking to myself with no visible means of telephony people will give me a wide berth and leave me alone, which is what I want.

I've had mine for a month and agree with you 100%. Features, functionality and perfomance are top notch IMO.

Cuda, battery life is fine. Was away for 3 days with no charger, talked on it and took a bunch of pictures and still had 75% power. If you are in a bad coverage area and your phone is constantly searching for a system, then that will drain any battery to death.

I was driving up I5 on Wednesday from Palomar Airport Road in Carlsbad to the Rt 76 exit in Oceanside at about 5:15. It's evening rush hour and fairly congested but once you get past Carlsbad Village drive the the speed is usually at least 75-80 in the two left (out of four) lanes at that hour. Except, of course, on Wednesday. I've gotten out of the Palomar Airport Rd - Canon Rd conggestion and up to speed when suddenly the two fast lanes are full of brake lights and the speed suddenly drops to about 45 - 50. WTF? I'm in the third lane, and the fourth seems to be going a little faster, so I change lanes. Past about a half dozen cars, there's a guy in driving a Lexus in the third lane with a cell phone to his fucking ear being passed by cars on both sides. Completely and utterly oblivious.

Now, I try not to use the celly while driving, and especially try not to dial a number while driving on the freeway. BUT, if I do have to talk, I'm at least aware of WTF is going on around me. These assholes who go off into another world while talking on their phones ought to be shot and used as crash test dummies.
