..... does Howard become the unofficial Homerun king? No roids, nothing artifical... just a big boy with a beautiful swing. Mcgwire, Sosa, Bonds all need to be discounted due to their chemically enhanced muscles.
62.. here I come...

Yeah fuckers.... I'm back
It's good to see an exciting new wave of younger sluggers in light of the steroid era. Howard is a neat story with him being 27 and only his first full year of the majors. I heard a few days ago that he's hit over 60 home runs in his first 162 games of MLB career...rolled over from the end last season, of course. Damn those juice heads and the MLB for permanentally putting doubt in the back of our collective heads whenever we see something remarkable. I'm rooting guys like Pujols, Howard, Morneau, Hafner, Wright, Beltran, and Cabrera to continue to perform the way they are...I really hope these guys are the genuine product.

Actually- it was his rookie year and he was just starting out. he only had 312 AB. He averaged a homerun every 14.1 at bats, this year he has 502 at bats and is averaging one every 9.47 at bats. That is not that drastically different. If he was a 10 year veteran- I would agree.. but this is his second year in the league. His weakenss last year was right handed pitching.. he spent the off season working on it, and like a second year player should- he learned how to correct his weakness' and is becoming a better player.Adelpiero wrote:if anything, this brings in more doubt
this isnt a guy who went from 40-50 yearly to 70. he went from sharing 1b to first full season and is hitting 60.

First, there are tests for HGH but baseball does not currently use those tests for a variety of reasons. Second, Howard has just as many homeruns on the road as he does at home and he has a higher road average. He didn't share time with Thome b/c Thome was hurt most of th year last year. Howard, as a rookie was already hitting bombs. No coincidence that his maturation has also come when Chase Utely is having a great year.Adelpiero wrote:if anything, this brings in more doubt

i know philly park is a joke, band box, but if anything, this brings in more doubt.
growth hormones are undetectable.
Howard is a great hitter.. he learns on the fly and adjusts.. kinda like Pujols. Baseball also has watered down pitching and it was the case during the Sosa/McGuire HR bash and its the same now.
