Number crunching...

Post by ChargerMike »

0 – Number of sacks allowed by the Chargers Monday night. Also the number of times the Bolts turned the ball over.
1 – Number of yards gained by the Raiders on punt returns.
2 – Number of times in the history of the Oakland Raiders that the team has been shutout at home.
3 – Number of penalties called on the Chargers Monday.
5 – Number of opening day wins for Philip Rivers, counting his four at NC State.
20 – Number of years since the Raiders have been shut out at home.
27- The number of points the Chargers scored Monday night, tying them with the Baltimore Ravens for the most points scored by an NFL team in Week 1.
29 – Number of times LaDainian Tomlinson has rushed for at least 100-yards in an NFL game.
129 – Number of yards gained by the Raiders.
302 – Number of yards gained by the Chargers.

Yea CM, while those are fun numbers to look at, the Raiders are absolutely a piss poor squad this year. Look for more this coming Sunday in the home opener against Tennessee, another pathetic D coming to town. I don't see their offense being much more of a test to the Bolts D either. Hopefully Marty will "open it up a little" and give Rivers 18-20 passes this weekend. If Marty doesn't get Rivers comfortable in the passing attack upcoming games with Pitt, Balt, Den are going to be long games.

A few observations about the sack-fest.

1) SD has a helluva good D-Front. They're gonna give a LOT of teams fits this year.

2) Gallery gave up one sack (Merriman).

3) The middle of Oakland's line (Sims, Grove, McQ) got fucking ABUSED. Embarassing. If they can't step it up this offense isn't gonna do dick all season.

4) Jordan and Crockett looked positively Pop Warneresque in their 'effort' to pick up the blitz on some of those plays.

5) Oakland was running it's receivers on deep routes and not giving the QB anything to look for underneath. WHY ... ? WTF ... ? Almost as if they were saying, "Hey, what won't work v. this defense? Yeah, let's run THAT." Joke.

6) Brooks has got to get rid of the ball much quicker. He had opportunities to dump the ball off on a few of those plays and didn't. Jackass.

7) Art said he 'challenged' the O-line at halftime. Ummmm ..... challenging the guys in week freaking ONE ... ? Judging from the way they got worked again in the 2nd half they either didn't give a shit about your challenge or they are just fucking gimps. You're startin' to piss me off, Art. Hey Arthur, did you 'challenge' Tom Walsh to pull his head out of his ass and adjust the offensive gameplan to account for the O-line's inability to pass block ... ? Get your shit together, Arthur. Right now you are winless and you suck large ass.

8 ) WTF was up with all the Bolt player theatrics after the sacks ... ? Ok, modern player. Yeah, we see the trash all the time. More distressing ..... WTF was with the Raider players standing around and WATCHING it ... ? Raider player got beaten down and then HUMILIATED in his own house. "You're not dancing around in OUR house, fucker," would have been the reaction of Raider teams of the past. A PROUD tradition of Raider O-linemen has gone *poof* with the way this current group handles itself. Grove and Gallery were not only touted as top O-linemen coming out of college, but they were both sold as some sort of bad-asses too. There supposed game and attitude is nowhere to be found. McQistard, the same. I thought he was some sort of 'nasty' player. He's a rook, so I'll cut him some slack, but he appears to be a fucking pussy cat too.

9) The Crows are gonna beat Oakland 24-3 on Sunday.

I agree with you pop, it started to get a little out of hand. In years past the Raider o-line would have taken the penalties and started blasting guys after the second time. What you got now is a line of whimpering pussies. As far as the "bull dance" (not my name,) that was done to honor their drunken/shot colleague Steve Foley.

Usually I don't like seeing that shit, particularly early in the game or from players whoose team is behind on the scoreboard. In this case I let it slide since it was occuring during probably the most thourough ass rapings i've ever seen my Bolts put on your Duh's.

Pop, while you are bashing the offensive (players, coaching, etc.) what about your D side of the ball. Everybody in the world, well maybe except a D-coordinator and Shell, knew the Marty was going to keep a type reign on Rivers and that there was going to be a steady dose of LT. How the hell could they not stack 8 in the box from the get go? Forget about the Bolts D and the shut out they pitched, when was the last time a team scored 27 points while only throwing the ball 11 freaking times with 8 completions. I'm thinking that Marty was enjoying this beatdown so much that he wanted to make it more epic by sticking to a vanilla one dimensional offense.

You really think the Raiders will put up 3 points this weekend? :D

As far as the Chargers go, I'm looking for another beatdown applied to the Titans this weekend for their home opener. Hopefully Marty will open up the offense and let Rivers throw at least 15 times.

Why Oakland didn't stack the front and force Rivers to throw is beyond me, a-dad.
No clue.

Their early defensive strategy, like their offensive strategy, made it seem as if they were saying, "what's our BEST gameplan if we want to LOSE the game? Yeah, ok, lets do that."

Art's not off to a good start in the Xs and Os dept. ..... unless his deal is drawing up gameplans designed to LOSE. Image

CM, being a fellow Charger fan you understand the unmerciless shit we've put up with over the years, ya gotta dig when the ground is soft. Hell i'm probably setting my self for a plungering somewhere down the road this season.

I have tickets for Sunday, row 7 plaza 50, right behind the east end goal post, i'll try to put together a sign with some sort of T1B reference.

By the way, where is Rawsphincterjames and his overused pic of the empty trophy rack? He's gone milkcarton on us.

It's still around AD, but I'm guessing RJ is still on a week long bender and rues the day he ever posted the trophy case...
