Larry is apparently one of the good guys, but he's not a great HC.

^^^^ Wow...that was one hell of a sig bet ehh?

Sucks if Coker is getting fired. He's such a nice man and just as awful as Jeff. Now UM is going to get a good coach and the Noles are going to loose to both instate schools on a regular basis until we have coaching changes as well. I miss Zook.

Rack. It is scary to imagine Miami's talent with good coaching.

Yeah, no shit. I find it so funny when all the "experts" talk about how FSU and Miami lack the "talent" that they possesed in the past. If coaching wasn't the center piece here, no one would be saying a fucking word about "talent".

If Butch Davis comes back to Miami...it is going to be BAD NEWS for the ACC and South in general.

Miami and Florida State are nothing more than NFL factories but they aren't very good college football teams. There probably aren't many coaches who can corrale all that talent and make them a cohesive unit. Coker probably dug his own grave by winning right away...anything after that couldn't possibly compare to how he started.

Assuming for the sake of argument that Davis goes back to Miami, I'm trying to remember a single instance where a college coach/manager left a team where he'd had some glory years and then he came back later and managed to recapture his former glory...

Off the top of my head about the only one I can think of is Billy Martin and that was that weird situation with Steinbrenner. College coaches? Just can't think of an example when it worked.

They may not be good teams now but they only thing lacking in these teams is adequate coaching. Pete Carroll is not a great coach but he knows what to do with NFL talent. These schools just need to find some NFL coaching failures to come back to the NCAA and resurrect their programs.

Davis actually changed it from hurrigangsta U to being a top program, not just a thug factory.

No reason why he couldn't do it again. south beach and a whole shit load of Cash, I'd take it if i was him.

That is just not true, unless you are speaking of today's teams. Mickey Andrews seems to handle all that talent on the defensive side of the ball pretty well.... Not to mention, FSU and MIAMI weren't too bad for a 20 year stretch...remember the 80's and 90's?

Coaching is coaching, period...right now, neither of those teams have it. They will though...both of those teams are just too attractive to not lure in a high profile coach...who can actually coach someday.

I'm not sure I'm buying this.

I TOLD you guys six years ago the guy was a bad coach..
Like I said yesterday... this is a nightmare come true for me (even worse for FSUfan). Rumors abounded last week that should Goldtoof U lose to Louisville, Coker would be comin' home to a pink slip.

I like watchin' Goldtoof U lose. Very much so, as a matter of fact. Bittersweet Louisville win for me yesterday.

sometime between now and October 13 might be a great time to make a run at Chizik. IMHO.

It certainly didn't work out that way for John Robinson. :D

I just have trouble seeing Davis going back to the same job he had before. Yes he was successful on and off the field before at Miami and they'd offer nice cash but I see him wanting to go somewhere new. IMO he'll want a new challenge. I think he'll take the Arkansas job after this season when they have tired of Nutt's inability to move the program forward.

As far as Coker goes I think they'll give him a bit more time. Unless they think the DC can win games Coker can't I don't see them ditching the season already. But I expect Coker to be gone by season's end.

I just don't see Bob as an NFLer. That being said, with the he's unhappy rumors, maybe he's tired of the college game. As for the Miami gig, well it's Miami, weather, beaches, no state income tax, nice golf communities. I also think Mike Irvin and the rest of the boyz would not have a problem with throwing something into the kitty.....

miami is probably the best gig in college football.

like snake said, south beach, the celebs, no state tax, golf, and best of all, the talent in the miami area.

Oklahoma has nowhere near the talent miami and surrounding counties produce, he could steal a couple kids from the south, and pounce on the state of florida, and have a top 2 class every year.

No offense, but Norman isn't South Beach.

Stoops has been a rumor-mill king for years, first Florida or the NFL, now Miami. IMO if he goes anywhere it will be the NFL. Personally I think he stays at OU.

I see Miami hiring a NFL-guy.

Out of college-guys who are possibilities I'd say Chizik from Auburn, Gary Patterson from TCU, Schiano from Rutgers(Miami guy whose * is rising), or possibly a Petrino from Louisville. Petrino would be a tough get considering they are on the cusp of national power status but Petrino hasn't been shy about listening to other offers.
