Ryder Cup Sig Bet

Post by Nishlord »

You know the drill;

If the Euros win, I get to set the sigs of everyone who signs up for the rest of the month.
If the USA win, those who sign up get sig rights on me for the rest of the year.

I dunno. I'll check how many Italians are in the squad.

Meanwhile, your boys have already done you proud;
If Tom Lehman's US Ryder Cup team should fall to inglorious defeat at the K Club this week, the history books will record that it all started to go wrong with the great tortilla chip fiasco on the tarmac of a Washington DC airport.

"Excess baggage" was the official explanation for a two-hour delay in the Americans' arrival at Dublin airport yesterday morning but, as Lehman explained later, the problem could be ascribed to excess salsa.

"I live in Arizona - the land of Mexican food. When I was over here a few weeks ago it was very difficult to find good chips and salsa.

"So rather than try to find it, we decided to bring our own corn tortillas," he said. "I loaded 200 bags into my golf travel bag. When I tried to move it, I couldn't even get it off the ground."

Airport staff had the same difficulty, which led to the delay. When the American team eventually did step off the plane, dressed in tweed jackets and looking like refugees from a Sherlock Holmes convention, they were met by Ian Woosnam, who was resplendent - if that's the right word - in a team-issue suede safari jacket.

It's the Euros, not the Italian national team.

In on the sig bet. I might as well go 0-2 while I'm on a roll.

This is gonna be a close one. Americans are being surprisingly decent and non-arrogant, which is always a worrying sign. And the wind's gonna be an absolute cunt this afto.

Oh, go fuck yourself. You guys are every bit as arrogant as we are, you're just more smug about it. You hide behind your wry smiles (probably a good idea for obvious reasons) because you don't have the confidence to be straight up ASSHOLES like we do. Rack Americans!

What exactly is wry? Discolored, crooked and mostly missing? Cause any smile a euro might be hiding behind would have to be all of that.

Oh, so it's safe for the sackless to post in here now, is it? Fancy that.

Not a massive golf fan, but the Ryder Cup is decent. They should make more individual sports do something like this (apart from tennis, who already have the Davis Cup and it still sucks arse). Boxing foursomes would be amusing.

Europe have to pull away today, seeing as the Yanks always own the final singles day.

Let's take a look at this here thread...

On this board, there is actually a Golf Forum, or so I've heard. There's a small handful of posters who are very passionate both about playing golf, and PGA golf. Matter of fact, there's often pick'em games for some of the Majors, and other significant events.

Yet, in this here sig-bet thread, you'll notice that not one of those people who actually follow the sport closely enough to post about it on internet forums(you know -- the people who actually know what the fuck they're talking about) chimed in, wanting any part of this bet, even including the pussy-assed Nazimod of the forum.

Do any of you wonder why that is at this point? Hmmmm.......

Ahhhh, so posting in a specific forum somehow makes one knowledgable about that forum's topic. I think posting in a particular forum is just a way of ensuring that one's thread/post remain on the first page of that forum for eternity. Perhaps longer.

Fukk that. If multiple boards didn't already slow things enough, multiple forums water it down to an unbearable level.

If I were king, there'd be 2 forums. The cul de smack and .nets pron forum. All else is just a waste.

Because those with an actual knowledge of golf know better than to be so foolish as to take Nish up on that sig bet.

Kind of like suggesting that the Raiders could beat well, anyone.
