Jaguars vs. Steelers

Post by patsy stone »

Well, it's our first Monday night appearance since 2001 so I hope we don't embarrass ourselves! Nevertheless, I will be watching every moment and passionately cheering my team on!

GO JAGS! BEAT THE STEELERS!

Not a steeler nor jag hayta. Both teams neutral to me unless the 'Skins are playing them (and rack the Jags for macking the cowchips, since MY TEAM can't).

Jags 13
Steelers 10

It'll be all about defense and these two squads will run a clinic in that regard tonite. Can't wait. Loves me some defensive chessmatches.

At start of second half:

Kornholer: "... this is the best 0-0 game I've ever seen."

Good thing ESPN isn't trying to keep viewers lured by trying to convince us it's the greatest 0-0 game at halftime in the history of the NFL.

RACK

Despite ESPN's claim that it very well may be the greatest 0-0 game ever, I still haven't been compelled to turn on Westwood One. Fuck it, maybe if I do, the nature of this game will change.

Bwah @ Scott.

Anybody hear Kornholer, with the sudden Jacksonville NFL/civics lesson? Something along the lines of "nobody's ever heard of them ... their team, their city."

What a fucking tool. Now I want Jax to win just so I can hear that moron make more idiotic comments ... hopefully the asshat will get fired after tonight. Better yet, killed in a car wreck in the city that "nobody's ever heard of." Fucking jackass.

Hey, there are no other cities in the U.S. that anyone has ever heard of outside of Washington, N.Y. and L.A.

Alright, maybe a few hayseeds have heard of B'more, but that's it.

If you ever watch PTI you'll know that Kornholer goes pretty overboard with the sarcasm thing. That's pretty much his entire schtick.

Only comedy from the booth thus far has been Tony's repeated efforts to bait Theisman into arguments, only to get stonewalled.

I read a story about Kornheiser in the local rag, supposedly he was wanted by ESPN beacuse he'd appeal to the "Casual Fan".

I'll go out on a limb here and predict that Tony Kornheiser, with his superior wit and sarcasm, will announce that shortly. That is, unless Theesman has already beat him to the punch.

Hard to believe that three games this weekend in the NFL and college where all teams were in single digits turned out to be exciting games. This game would rank third behind Auburn-LSU and Chiefs-Broncos though.

And a recovered onside kick right after.

Yeah right, like that's going to happen.

Oh yeah, it did.

Sorry, just channeling for Kornheiser's benefit.

Shoalz,

Actually, this game reminds me a LOT of LSU-Auburn this weekend. Fantastic defense, on both sides.

It was a good fucking game... unless you're a Stiller fan.

You want a 72-68 game, watch an Arena League game.

Atta girl, and congrats on the win. I was hoping more from Drew-Jones....why isn't he returning punts? He led the nation last year.....

Would have been a good time to post those pictures. Ya know? ;)

Your boys played a hell of a defensive game. My guess is they'll be seeing each other again sometime in January. Untill then, they deserve their props.

Unfortunately he does not appeal to the casual fan...he is a casual fan. They might as well put JTR in the booth.
There is one upside to Kornhieser. He is making it his life's work to point out every time Thiesman contradicts himself in the same broadcast. For that reason alone I am willing to cut him some slack.

I detest Kornheiser, but only a little more than I detest Theismann. I suffered through a radio delay for a bit last night...as much as I could stand.

Gee, I've apparently been "smacked" here.

Since I'm *new* here, maybe you could enlighten me on what you mean by the "casual fan".
Perhaps you mean in contrast to the "serious fan", defined as one who provides deep and insightful research and NFL commentary 365 days a year on T1B? Something to really look up to - I'm truly humbled by your encyclopedic knowledge and ability to analyze games that you didn't see.
Or maybe you're talking about a loser forklift driver from somewhere in flyover country (thanks Dins) who has a nasty habit of picking said "serious" fan's pubic hairs from his teeth in public places.

I guess maybe I should quit my job(s) and start Tivo'ing the NFL network.

BTW, Kornheiser is among the top two assholes on TV today. He'd probably be #1 if Burnt Hamburger would just die - he's never amounted to anything without Phyllis George.
