printer cartridge refill kits. are they worth a fukk?

OK, so, I'll actually try the geek forum where I'll have to wait till thanksgiving for a response....

My pos cheapo lexmark Z22 cartridge is outta gas. I prolly ought to go by a 3 in 1 machine like I been thinking of doing, but, my cheapazz was thinking of getting a refill kit instead. I have heard mixed reviews on these.

What do you asshats think?

I've used em. Don't like them. They don't last as long, and they don't always work right Not worth teh savings.

One of the biggest problems with refil kits is that the manufacturers hate the whole concept so they do everything in their power to screw with the refil companies. Usually this just means that they change the cartriges they release with new printers.

I know a few years ago refil kits were huge. Nowdays they still exist and there is a market out for them, but I don't think its as big as it was in the late 90s early 00s.
As with anything else, some of the refil kits are crap and some are really good, but because the printer manufacturers refuse to work with them and don't recomend them, its hard to get good support.

In terms of getting one of those combo machines, I would just say that realize that you will be using the machine as a combo machine so if you think ink is expensive now, it may be even more expensive with a combo machine. Also, the quality of a combo machine usually is no where as good as if you used individual machines. I hear this most about the scanners.

well, I pretty much never have to scan anything. And with anything I fax, high resolution is generally not a concern. I would appreciate decent quality printing, though.
