Looking good, Screw...wild game to start the season.
Havlat-Handzus-Ruutu could be a premier line if they can all stay healthy. Injuries killed the Blackhawks last year along with the subpar play of Khabibulin. Putting 8 past Vokoun and the Predators is something. Could make for a more interesting Central Division with the Wings being a notch down, the Predators are better, the Hawks and Blues made some improvements in the offseason and the Jackets have a very good young core to build around.

I will be happy if the Wings falter.Shoalzie wrote:Could make for a more interesting Central Division with the Wings being a notch down, the Predators are better, the Hawks and Blues made some improvements in the offseason and the Jackets have a very good young core to build around.
I will be unhappy if its some whipper snapper franchise like the Predators ahead of them.

Havlat is out for two to three weeks with a sprained ankle. Handzus is out with a season ending knee injury. Khabibulin is out for 10 to 14 days with a broken finger.
That's a tough break for the hawks.

Throw in the fact Ruutu is still out...this team is pretty back to where they were last year. The Hawks have been bad for a while...I'm actually rooting for them to get better. I listen to radio in Chicago occasionally...hockey is irrelevant. It's all about the Bears and Bulls right now...the Hawks are having a hard enough time getting love from the Chicago media and the fans. The NHL is stronger when the Blackhawks, Bruins, Rangers and Kings are top teams...I know that probably makes Canadian fans toss their cookies but it's true.
yeah, that was one hell of a tough week for the hawks. and shoalz is right, other than basic updates on comcast sports net about how the team is doing, there is no extra interest in the hawks.
but hey, at least chicago fans will be able to see the first broadcasted home games in over 30 years! a whole whopping slate of FIVE games will be shown on CSNCH. stop the fucking presses!
i wouldn't doubt the wolves outdraw the hawks regularly. they had 10k people for the game against le habs last wednesday.

These Hawks are one hell of a resilient bunch. They're quickly becoming one of the best teams to watch.
I'll definitely be watching their Thursday game against Detroit. I think they're primed for a good run at the wings. That double digit points lead has just evaporated.
Columbus is playing lights out under Hitchcock....Detroit has them twice next week. The Central is definitely getting interesting.

The best part about it was listening to Kelly Chase complain about the petty penalties being called.Screw_Michigan wrote:the game last night was fucking awesome.
kid goalie Schwarz was having a good game until then. Damned puck was in the 'Hawks zone the entire first and second periods only to have these three quick goals show up suddenly.

showdown tonight! i can't believe this might be an important meeting between the two clubs, instead of the hawks being buried in the basement and nothing to play for other than not being humiliated by the wings. hopefully i'll get the fuck out of my game early so i can catch the second half of the game.Shoalzie wrote:I want the Hawks in the playoffs but not at the expense of the Wings...they need to work on catching the Preds. I can't believe I'm saying this but here's to the Hawks having health and success the rest of the way...unless they face the Wings.
