You're right. Everyone knows her political views, which is why if she wants to go Lorne Michaels and do an anti-Bush skit, she should do so on SNL or some other venue meant for that type of thing.
Last I checked, it was her show. She rented the hall and printed the tickets. That means pretty much anything she thinks would entertain the crowd is fair game. And from what I've read, the vast majority of the crowd enjoyed the show.
Can you imagine showing up to a comedy show where the comedian says, "I hope you'll all bear with me as I sing a few songs that I've composed," then drops an f-bomb on a fan who came to hear comedy and heckles the comedian about it?
