UFC 64 PPV not working

Post by Rack Fu »

*raises hand*

It appears to be a big problem judging from the threads on various MMA websites.

I'm all kinds of mad right now.

Damn, I can't believe that Anderson Silva completely destroyed Rich Franklin like that.

Not that I saw it.

Yup, lost 4 of 5 rounds. Would have lost all 5 if he didn't cut Sherk in the 2nd. That thing still hasn't stopped bleeding, but it was in a good spot so he could finish.

The younger Lauzon gassed and got TKO'd late in the 1st, kid will be pretty good though. Looking forward to a Fisher/J-Lau fight next. If you want more info on the local scene go here http://massmma.net/

Time-Warner/Comcast in the Twin Cities, 9:00 p.m. Saturday Night:

"UFC 64: Unstoppable is no longer available."

I got the results off Sherdog and watched the fights on youtube.

Dumbasses lost my $40 bucks, but it sounded like a good one to miss. Silva destroyed poor Rich and really messed up his nose. Ace looked like Lou Fontinato after his fight with Gordie Howe.

Just watched it on youtube - why didn't Franklin break out of that Muay Thai clinch when he took all those knees to the body? or at least thrown some uppercuts to back Silva off.

It was a thorough ass kicking - I heard on Ultimate Fighter that Franklin is a dick so not feeling to bad about the outcome.

Anderson Silva is a Chute Boxe trained Muay Thai fighter. Those guys (Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, etc) are unbelievable at it. In the hands of a Muay Thai expert, that clinch is nearly impossible to get out of. Watch what Wanderlei and Shogun both did to Rampage Jackson with that clinch and Rampage is stronger than Franklin.

Beyond the death grip on the back of the head and upper neck, notice how Anderson Silva clinches his elbows together. That also gives him some defense to counter uppercuts. Franklin cannot get his head out of that without severe consequences. He can duck his head way down and try to slip out. The obvious problem with that is that you have to worry about eating a knee. The other way is to pry one of his arms off by forcing one of your arms between your head and his arm. That leaves you open to knees to the side exposed because your arm is up trying to pry the clinch.

Against a novice Muay Thai fighter, Franklin would've been OK. Against a Chute Boxe trained Muay Thai wizard like Silva, he was in over his head. His gameplan should have been to stay out of the clinch. Franklin, for some stupid reason, actually wanted to fight from the clinch with Silva. Didn't work so well.
