My Vegas Trip Report

Just got back Wednesday from a 6 day 5 night (got in late Friday night so really it doesn't count) but stayed at the Venetian for 3 nights and Caesars for 2 nights.

Some thoughts:

the Venetian Poker Room is awesome. They had a bounty tournament the saturday we were there and we walked around the room (Tourney was sold out) and we saw just about every pro imagineable (Negraneau, Unabomber, both Brunsons, etc) if you knocked out a pro you got $100, pretty sweet deal.

Played some $2/5 NL and $4/8 Limit. IN the $2/5 game I held my own (I was not planning on playing this limit but it was the only open seat on Saturday afternoon before the Buckeyes took the field) in about 1 hour of play I left up about $30 and it could have been more but the game was very tight. Sunday I played some $4/8 limit and fell victim to boat over boat early for a big pot (I should have gotten away from my hand but it was tough) and some 100 year old donkey kept calling my re-raises of his bets on the turn and river when I flopped or turned top two only to get rivered twice by him for a bigger top 2...but all in all I left up a little there to..

Played in some lower buy in tourneys at Paris and the wife finished 4th in 1 (got our buy ins back) and I finished 4th in one (I was tied for 2nd in chips) had pocket 8's on the button and pushed all in to pick up the $3K in blinds and the BB calls me with NINE/FIVE suited and flops a 9...SC is now crippled goes all in on the next hand with A/4 suited flops a 4 against 2 callers one guy flips over K/J off for no pair, but yes the guy to my right flips over pocket Queens oh well another 4th place and the buy in back.

Caesars has a great poker room as well...played some 1/2 NL and twice got my two pair cracked by a turned and rivered straights (one being a wheel) and that took some wind out of my sails...went over to play $3/6 and was up a bit but then had my Aces cracked by a rivered two pair which cost me some money...oh well...

Played Texas Hold Em Bonus (sup ADEL) and had a couple of nice runs until TUESDAY...every time we sat down we got flat killed. ON monday my wife moves from her seat next to me and the husband and wife who sit down in the two seats over there proceed to get dealt Pockets Queens, AK Suited, AQ suited, and pocket Queens in successive hands to really hit some big bonuses...oh well...great game though and it is a nice change of pace...although they have blackjack dealers dealing it and most of them don't know how to read poker hands...

in the stupidiest moment of my life...I am playing 1/2 NL at Paris while the wife is still in the tournament...i move my seat...guy sits down in my old seat and in like 5 hands gets dealt a STRAIGHT FLUSH to the QUEEN...he flopped it...and got a high hand jackpot bonus of $318 UNRACK SC for moving...

all in all nice time and I am hitting vegas in Feb for a bachelor party...I will not be leaving the poker room much that trip...

my suggestions check out both the Caesars and Venetian poker rooms...very nice

also walked around bellagio on Tuesday saw Sheiky, Gavin Smith, and Orel Hersheiser playing poker...pretty cool...
