Aruba trip report-- I outlast Helmuth
And Fuck Poker....
Came in 150th out of 600. Only top 50 got paid.
Had a big 30,000 chip stack early and was playing my ass off as one of the tourney leaders midway through Day 1.
However, thee times had other players all-in for their tourney lives before the flop, and had them severely dominated, and lost them all.
KQ vs. QJ... he gets his jack on the flop.
KK v. 55.... catches a 5 on the turn.
AK v. A8.... catches an 8 on the turn.
70%, 80% and 75% to win on these, with each pot worth about 10,000 chips.
Hand that eliminated me was K9s (desperate) vs. a pair of pocket 4s. 50/50. No luck.
Oh well I had a good run but was 0 for 4 on all-in showdowns, so what more can you do?
Hellmuth got knocked out like in the 220s, for what it's worth. Table right next to me.
Great time otherwise, though. Nice tan.

No, not really. They're actually weren't that many pros there this year as compared to last year as the WPT dropped Aruba and some new PPT US Open thing was going on at the same time. When Hellmuth busted out it was really quiet and he very gentlemanly shook everybody's hand and then walked away quietly... UNTIL the guy who knocked him out cat-called him with "HAVE A NICE DAY PHIL!!"... at which point Phil gets pissed, comes back to the table and then proceeds to lecture everyone about how the guy misplayed the hand for about 20 minutes.Adelpiero wrote:any stories??? poker pros acting like tards??
poker whores, banging for $5 chips???
An hour later, Ultimate Bet brought Phil back (as he's their main promotional face) and "re-filmed" him getting knocked out and shaking hands.

Other than that, it was pretty tame except for some 20 year old Indian/Middle Eastern looking punk at my second table who yapped a lot and made big productions out of his successful bluffs, running around to different tables telling his other poker boyfriends about it. I took him off a pot (he led out with 1000 and I came over the top with 3000) where he laid down pocket 9s face up on a j-4-3 flop, and I showed him pocket 5s and he got pissed. (rack)
As far as poker whores, I wouldn't have minded getting my hang-low sucked by one of them but I was with my girlfriend. Saw one nice-titted one lingering in the lobby. I think she was one of those. :)

Pros that were there to my knowledge were Hellmuth, Annie Duke, Antonio Elsfandiari (sp), Layne Flack, Sir Robert Williamson III, and Freddy Deeb.Eaglebauer wrote:No, not really. I'd say the majority of players there (that won online) were little early 20s brats that don't have real jobs.
