So that settles that prior nonsense about ATG meeting up with Dion Phaneuf.
Wait until the clips get posted at NHL.com or youtube. You have to see these clips...if you find them first...post it.
He flattened the entire Calgary defense.

ATG just schooled Phaneuf
Pierre McGuire: "The Washington Capitals are the sleeping giants of the East. Exciting times in Washington are coming."
BWahaahaaaa!!!!
OK then.
For some reason, I didn't expect this when I logged on.... silly me.
Ovechkin was OK tonight. I think he got one assist, I'm sure I could look that up. He hit Phaneuf once or twice, Phaneuf tried to hit him a couple times, didn't work. Phaneuf definitely didn't look quite right tonight... he missed Saturday's game with the flu. No excuse, however.
The Caps looked real shaky in the 1st, but the Flames didn't take advantage. They let the Caps into the game, and they ran with it. Good for them. They needed a W after a brutal road trip.
As for the Flames, as soon as the team decides to follow their captain's lead, they'll be fine. Kiprusoff has been pretty good, but not great.
But besides that, Alex Tanguay is the worst, most expensive acquisition ever. Nothing but excuses coming out of his mouth in the media, and if I were Jim Playfair, I'd be awfully tempted to put him on popcorn patrol for a week with his lazy fucking skating and his weak-on-the-puck antics. I have no idea how he scored so many points in Colorado, but one can't help but to think he rode the coattails of a couple future HOFers. I hope I'm wrong about this guy, but I see a guy who doesn't want to be here, and when he quits on plays the way I've seen him do, I wouldn't be surprised if a couple teammates don't want him here either.

Brutal road trip? What the hell are you jabbering about?
How is getting 5 out of 8 road points brutal?
They took no injuries on the whole trip. The Vancouver game was one of the best games of the entire NHL season. I would imagine the Caps are very happy with the way things came out.
Brutal applies to the Flames in the standings. That's truly brutal. What you saw this evening is two teams going in opposite directions

3 out of 8 points if they don't win tonight. Sorry if we have different standards as to what a good road trip is...The Rat Pack wrote:Brutal applies to the Flames in the standings. That's truly brutal. What you saw this evening is two teams going in opposite directions
As for teams going in opposite directions, you can offer me a sig bet if you truly believe that. Who'll be ahead of whom at the end of the year?
The Flames are 3 games under .500, which ain't great, but it's exactly where they were last year at this time. Being 2nd last in the conference is irrelevant given the fact that they've played 4 less games than most teams in the league.
They're struggling, but they're nowhere near this bad a hockey team.

I'm sorry. You have to gain some credibility around here before anything like that ever happens.
Call something once in a while. Show up when your team is in the tank.
I do all of these things on a regular basis. I have nothing but apathy for the Flames situation. I have no desire to give out a sig based on their woeful play.

Oh, well I guess I'll try to gain some credibility then. It appears as though only then will I have the opportunity to interact with the likes of yourself. I look forward to that day.
Would like to point out that I was wrong in the number of games the Flames have played... looking at the standings this morning, it seems as though they've played about the same number of games. Time to get it going, I guess.

He was playing with Joe freaking Sakic in Colorado (and occasionally Peter Forsberg). Of course he was riding coattails. The thing about Tanguay is that he's a little fragile, mentally. When he played for the Avs, you always got the feeling that if something went wrong, he'd be a step away from digging a hole and climbing in to hide. Both Hartley and Granato gave him slaps on the wrist by relegating him to 3rd line playing time for the exact things that you've mentioned.JD wrote:But besides that, Alex Tanguay is the worst, most expensive acquisition ever. I have to admit, I was watching this trade with interest. I would've thought after the past disasters (how many goals does Drury have now?), Lacroix would have refused to trade with Calgary on principle, and I note with some small satisfaction that this one isn't working out so well for the Flames. Of course, Leopold has yet to even lace 'em up in a game, so the jury's still out, but at least I don't have to worry about Tanguay being this year's Rocket Richard winner.
