Senators GM John Muckler squashed a rumour -- reported first on a Montreal radio station this morning -- just minutes ago by telling the Sun he won't be dealing the club's captain to the Los Angeles Kings.
"There is absolutely no truth to that rumour," said Muckler.
While the report indicated four Los Angeles scouts were at Tuesday's Senators-Habs game in Montreal -- including former GM Dave Taylor -- to scout Alfredsson, the captain hadn't heard anything about it when approached by the Sun today.
"I don't know anything," said Alfredsson. "I guess we'll see what happens."
I would say he's on his way out. It should be noted that Muckler is a fading & senile coot. I would take nothing he says at face value. The Sens look absolutely brutal in the scoring department. I'm not sure that trading Alfredsson will cure that, but that's their problem.
I think Danny-Boy is a good pick up for whoever gets him.
Pierre McGuire: "The Washington Capitals are the sleeping giants of the East. Exciting times in Washington are coming."
After last playoffs' elimination vs the Sabres I thought the Sens would finally come to realize Alfredsson is nothing more than great regular season player who always mysteriously disappears during the playoffs. This has been going on for years yet for some reason the Sens kept "building" around this clown. I couldn't believe he wasn't traded last summer and now to make matters worse the man is not scoring at all during regular season! My first T1B Yahoo Pool pick is a disaster.
