Congrats... Nancy Pelosi
A good San Franciscan... that will teach the "white trash" around the country
... it's not cool to be an Arab, errrrrr an American that sends their kids off to be suicide bombs, errrrr "Soldiers of War" for the rich to make money.
Psst... they'll also learn that 1.2 million new jobs created at Wal-Mart, BurgerKing, TacoBell, etc., doesn't equate to good business or a growing economy.

You sucked as M2. You suck still.

Get back to us after Nancy tells the illegal immigrant labor force how much better off they are than the Walmart workers. Neither place is where anyone wants to be for a long time. The immigrant population gets credit for coming so far, but the working poor in America that are trying to get a better place in life don't get the benefit of the doubt, and both parties have abandoned the lower class worker in this country as a dead end. IMHO, a bad decision in a country that made it's way as a place where people have gone from nothing to great somethings.
For some reason, we now seem to think that a place to start in this country from zero is held exclusively for those just visiting. Makes more money for large business (we would never admit that), and it makes us all feel better that the only people really scraping by are people who risked their lives to cross the border. It makes us happy for their limited success, and really happy when we get a great deal on house cleaning and lawn work. And we like them because they are so hard working and so polite, and they don't try to be anything else besides our servants and our cheap construction artisans. What a deal! And they don't even want a stake in OUR decision making, because they are just visiting, don't ya know.
And then we look around and see hordes of born and bred American citizens who can't cross a border for better work. What border would that be? There is no better border, but there are still people in this country that are hard working that get left aside. What happens to them if we give so much respect to illegal immigrants just because they want a better life? These people, our citizens, already have jobs at the dreaded Walmart or at the corner convenience store, probably a few jobs, and then take classes to better themselves and work their butts off to get a better life.
Who is there for them? Not any political party I know. The Repubs say they work for the little guy by lowering taxes, and the Demos say they stand up for the little guy, but really neither is there for them. Then everyone supports more needy people coming in the country, because we supposedly need them. It's a fucking sham all around.
The only good thing is that no single individual really needs the government to make a living here. That was the original intent anyway.
Possibly the only good thing in the government the way it is now...is that it still works not from intent, but from impasse.
The kicker is that we expect more, don't get it, and pay more for it.

Quite possibly the best take I have read in here in quite some time. Hey Ang, you still married?
Btw, I was hoping you'd post in the other thread, something along the lines of "Hey, don't drag me into this."
One thing that might actually work with the president and Congress being of different parties (as opposed to a rubber-stamp, junket-taking-we'll-get-to-it-later Congress), is you might actually see some real progress on this issue, believe it or not. Both parties know, or at least should know, it's a big deal among the public. Not that any issue that the public cares about has ever gotten in the way of politics ...
