As soon as Green is 100%, he should play. End of fucking story. That being said, Huard deserves a chance to compete next year for the starting job. He's earned that.

Exactly right. You can close this thread now.mvscal wrote:Sure toss Green aside. What has he ever done for the Chiefs? I mean besides throw for over 20,000 yards in the past five years and lead one of the league's most explosive offenses.

losing ones starting job while nursing an injury is probably not the message coaches/owners want to be sending to the other players on the team........

There's an unwritten rule about not giving away a guy's job while he's hurt, but that's pretty much what happened with Drew Bledsoe/Tom Brady... The problem is you can't give him the job back with a short leash because that looks bad too.
I agree with BSmack. It's Green's job this season, then open competition next summer.

And if it isn't too much to ask, tighten it up a bit and post a straight opinion on this.
But aren't you the guy who said that Trent was the starter when ready? "PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION". Yeah, that's what you said.
So now you've changed your mind and want to discuss it some more, but "tighten it up", eh?
What the hell does this mean, Paul?
Oh, and being as how there was a perfectly good topic that somebody started about TWO WEEKS ago to address this very question... where folks had already weighed in with their opinions... why did you feel the need to start another thread asking the very same question?

No, you don't toss Green aside. You get him plenty of reps in practice, and make sure that he's 100% physically ready. But there's no way you can simulate the speed and hitting of a real game in practice, so you won't really know that he's game ready until you put him back into the fray.mvscal wrote:Sure toss Green aside. Huard is doing nothing that Green hasn't done better and for a longer period of time. That being said, Huard is playing well enough so there is no need to bring Green back until he is 100% and looking sharp in practice.
So therefore, you don't fix what ain't broke and Huard remains the starter until such time as he starts struggling and losing games.
Then, you have an Ace in the hole that you can just pull out when and if needed.

Green is potentially damaged goods. There's no reason to risk losing a game over what he did over the past 5 years. This year is the only one that matters. Correction: The next game is the only one that matters.mvscal wrote:Exactly. Green isn't broken. If he was struggling or playing poorly before he got hurt, you would have a point.War Wagon wrote:So therefore, you don't fix what ain't broke
He is a much better quarterback than Huard...you do realise that, don't you?
And to tell the truth, there is no way to say that Green is better. You make that judgement based solely on the overall numbers you've observed. I've watched every play of every game for 5 years. Green has under thrown receivers at times. His arm strength is questionable compared to Huard.
As well, Huard has never really been given the opportunity to show what he can do, and now that he has, there's no way in hell it should taken away unless or until he starts showing a weakness that may not even exist.

When Green is healthy and ready to go...you stay with Huard.*
*if he's still winning games.
If he's losing, you throw Green in there.
Under no circumstances do you replace Huard if he's winning, unless you want to make me very, very happy. Let's face it, Green should be ready to go for Sweep Week.

Could you please come to Pittsburgh and sit in the end zone behind where I'll be returning punts? With your emense gravitational pull, I'll never fumble again.

Way to keep things tight Paul.
The way I see it, you need to go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win. Right now that's Huard. Jax was faced with a very similar situation last year going into the playoffs and going with the "starter" that hadn't played was the wrong decision. This year DelRio is taking the right appraoch. Huard isn't the answer for any teams future, but he is a serviceable backup when needed.

Fuck you.mvscal wrote:No sense messing with chemistry. Huard has got a good thing going and most importantly he isn't turning the ball over. He deserves to keep the starting job for the rest of the season.
Sincerely,

Signed Trent Green to IR and am waiting for him to play so I can modify my other Fanball league lineup again

Green was cleared to play last week. Hence him being the emergency quarterback who was dressed on the sidelines.

Huard's performance yesterday was entirely attributable to a broken dick O-line that included the likes of Chris Bober and Kyle (chop block) Turley and clueless WR's like Sammie Parker and Dante Hall who don't even turn their goddamn head to see if just maybe, possibly, a pass might be headed their way after Tony G is left standing on the sideline with a broken wing. :mad:poptart wrote:Wagon, what does Huard's performance Sunday do for your take ... ?
Still standing firm, or do you soften a bit and reconsider ..... ?
Never thought I'd say it, but I-65 Jordan Black would be an improvement over those two clowns.
Huards lucky he didn't get IR'ed yesterday. He had somebody in his face every goddamned time that he dropped back to pass. If the KC O-line (loose term) can't protect the QB better than they did at Miami, then it doesn't really matter who starts. He's going to get kilt.
That said, my last word on this was that it'll be a week to week decision.
I'm good with whatever Herm decides at this point.
