Iowa's unis are stupid and ghey
i have no respect for a team that steals an NFL look--and this goes true for UGA (Packers helmet logo) and KSU (Dallas Cowboys) and KU (How many NY Giants permutations....). Indiana and Arkansas are on the shit list for halfass Sooner looks as well. Motherfucker please!
c'mon. though we all know Drew Tate is still better than Jason White.....

No shit. They need to put some diamond-plate graphics on them suckers.
I'm hoping Oregon goes with the Lightning Yellow jerseys AND pants at the Colesium tonight...that would be epic.
I live in Duckland, and am obviously surrounded by fellow Ducks fans. We love the Lightning Yellow(and we're starting to see lots and lots of Lightning Yellow gear throughout the Valley). If you people only knew how much we laugh at your expense when after a totally epic weekend of CFB across the country, come sunday/monday, all you dweebs want to talk about is how ugly Oregon's uni's are...priceless....you think that's an accident?
Pile-on me for this all you like...which would obviously involve...talking about Oregon's unis'...see how that works? BODE Swooshy.

I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one
They aren't a total rip-off...they actually have logos on both side of their helmets. It's better than the unis they used to have a few years back that have stripes on the shoulders that looked like feathers or wings. Looked like a rip-off of the Iowa Barnstormers unis from the AFL.
When you go with a simple look, a lot of uniforms look similar. Wisconsin is pretty much Nebraska...switch the W to an N.
The one that annoys me being a MichiganFan is seeing other teams use the winged helmet look. I don't know if Michigan invented the look but it's their trademark look and they use the winged helmet in hockey and any other sport with a helmet. I saw a highlight of Princeton from last week and they have the winged helmet look. I wonder if they did it first. I found this article online about the history the Michigan helmets...

I found this from a website detailing the history of Princeton football...

So did he introduce the winged helmet at Princeton before he went to Michigan? Michigan football historians help me out if you could.1932
Legendary Princeton Football Association president Thomas A. Wilson '13 heads search committee that hires Herbert Orin "Fritz" Crisler h22 as head coach, the first non-Princeton grad to hold that position. Hall of Fame coach Crisler introduces many innovations including the Tiger Helmet which he later takes with him to Michigan. Crisler goes 35-9-5 in his six seasons at Princeton, and his .765 winning percentage is the best of any Princeton coach with five or more seasons.

Found this on the Helmet Project site:
Crisler did introduce the idea first at Princeton but they didn't keep the design. Michigan has used it for the longest time and Princeton has just recently brought it back. Pretty interesting stuff...

Cool site for uniform nerds like me.
The current Princeton helmet is patterned after the design which originated at Princeton but is most often associated with its 60-plus year run at Michigan. Princeton Coach "Fritz" Crisler is credited with designing the "winged" helmet in 1935 with the intention of helping his quarterbacks detect their receivers downfield; most teams' helmets were bland and indistinguishable at that time, and Crisler's design was one of the first to bear some distinction. The triangular shapes are said to represent the folded-back ears of a tiger, while the three stripes imitate those on the animal's body. Although these features are purely ornamental on modern helmets, they coincided with physical features of the helmet during the 1930s. Crisler took the design with him to Michigan in 1938, and, as I understand it, Princeton ceased to use it at that same time. The design was resurrected in modern form for the 1998 season at Princeton.
Michigan has used some variation of what has come to be known as the "winged" or "Michigan" helmet design since 1938. During the era covered by this web site (1960 to present) I believe there have been only some minor changes to the shape of the "wings" and to the widths of the stripes, and perhaps some minor color changes. Very small players' uniform numerals were worn on the helmets through most of the 1960s.

You know what, you are probably right. Of course we will be talking about the unfiorms because what fun would it be to talk about how Oregon got whupped by USC and how they are still middle of the pack in the Pac10. No one would care about that, would they?Dinsdale wrote:No shit. They need to put some diamond-plate graphics on them suckers.

You're not seriously going to uniform smack, are you?
I'm real glad the Iowa football program is the first team to ever copy anything. Because we all know nobody copies anything.......except Iowa.
And, for the record, regardless of how poor Drew Tate is, Jason White still sucks. Tate had more talent than White. White just had more heart. Heck, I have more talent than White. I remember when OU fan got on me for saying White would never play in the NFL.

Years from now, dudes will be sitting around tipping a few back and having conversations about the worst uniforms they've ever seen. The 80's Houston Astros will come up, the 70's Pittsburgh Pirates, the 70's Vancouver Canucks, the 70's Chicago White Sox but one will stand above all........The Oregon Ducks c. 2006. So we'll still be talkin' about 'em. Great idea! If you can't make a name for yourself by being a great team, have a hideous uniform. Interesting thought process, I guess, but I suppose any publicity is good publicity.
