I Officially Hate Instant Replay

Post by montinelevin »

Jarrett had possession and took steps before it was stripped.
Pimentel should (luv that word, huh) have had the fantastic TD.
Instant replay reversed the TD.

The fumble TD, had it stood, would have shifted the momentum significantly to Cal's favor in the first quarter.

There are simply too many times when the refs' calls have hurt Cal in the last two games. Cal must accept responsibility for its playmaking and its losses, but let's not deny the reality of the momentum killing against Cal by the instant replay.

Sup' OU...how do you feel about instant replay?

Now let me play the devil's advocate...

It's amazing how the two biggest plays of the game for Cal were reversed (or whatever). Those were the two times I was jumping up and down screaming (also the safety). Especially Lynch's run. For about 10 seconds I saw a glimmer of hope, and then they showed the replay and I almost threw up.

Between the Jackson touchdown that was reversed on replay against Arizona, and the two touchdowns that were reversed today, it's possible, and perhaps even likely, that had there been no instant replay the outcomes of both of those games would have been different.

Now, it's clear that the replay got it right on two of the three occasions, so I'm not trying to say Cal got jobbed, or anything like that. And maybe refs are trained or inclined in this replay era to err on the side of making the call that keeps the play going (which is what happened in each of the three calls I'm referencing) so that they can be reviewed. Still, the fact remains that instant replay took away three plays that were initially ruled touchdowns for Cal and those three plays could possibly have meant the difference between Cal in National Championship and Cal in Holiday Bowl.

Did I mention... I hate instant replay?

The pass to Jarret was called incomplete on the field.
Maybe you were watching a different game.

Just because the camera followed Pimentel all the way down the field doesn't mean that the officials called it a fumble.

And they definitely go it right.

Ummm, no, you fucking idiot. It was officially ruled an incomplete pass. If anything, instant replay was your best bet to get the call overturned. But it wasn't overturned because A) it WAS an incomplete pass (which anyone without Cal cock lodged up their ass could see), and B) there certainly wasn't conclusive evidence to reverse the call.

You hate instant replay why?

Because the replays confirmed that the officials got it right on the Jarrett play and wrong on the Lynch play?

Gotcha!

Yea, I see WR running down the field with the nose of the ball resting between the forearm and chest all the time. Sometimes they even balance the nose in the palm of their hand for extra style points.

That truly indicates control and security from a hard hit.

Good Lord.
