Saturday PickEm Challenge: Format change

Post by Shine »

To give someone other than Mook a shot to win this thing I'm changing some things up this year in the pickem.

1- Although still being called Saturday pickem challenge, Sunday games will now be included. Why not, the Big 10 has eleven teams. Most of the games will tip off on Saturday though.

2- Going to the cfb format of standard abbreviations of entry teams. Example down below.

3- There will be a "1 and 1" section with 2 games to pick. But like the FT situation it's named for, you must correctly pick the first listed game to receive credit for the second listed game.

4- There will be a "3 pt" section at the end. The one listed game will have a fictional spread attached to it that you must factor into your pick. Correct picks will be worth 3 and incorrect picks worth -1. This is an optional selection.

Like before the total number of games will vary week to week depending on scheduled games. Target number will be 13-15 each week. So an example week of the new format looks like this:

North Carolina (UNC) at NC State (NCST)
Michigan (MICH) at Ohio State (tO$U)
Maryland (MARY) at Duke (DOOK)
Oklahoma (OU) at Kansas (KU)
Texas Tech (TECH) at Texas A&M (ATM)
Indiana (IU) at Michigan State (BABS)
Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) at New Mexico (NMEX)
Florida (TRIX) at Kentucky (UK)
USC (USC) at UCLA (UCLA)
Arizona (ZONA) at Stanford (STAN)

1 and 1

UAB (UAB) at Memphis (MEM)
Boston College (BC) at Florida State (FSU)

3 pointer

Wisconsin -18 (WISC) at Northwestern (NW)

I like it.

You are the director.....but....

This was the year I was going to smash Mook in the mouth....make him humble...make his picks look like he's just throwing darts....

But, with the new format, we'll have to see.....

hey , let me run it, i'll run it for the first 9 weeks, then suddenly, without notice bail on it, because someone else who helped me run it,isnt around. Its not my fault i offered to run it, and then bailed on the game, wasting everyones time from week 1. After all, finding the spreads on games is very difficult, i realize there are over 200 sites with the vegas line, but that part is difficult .

a game or 2 vs the spread is a good way of having the wankers pick, compared to picking the obvious home favorite or raod favorite each week.makes you actually have to think about the line and the individual teams.

props to you, felix, shoalzie for running a game from start to finish.
