Think you, Cat, and IfOnlyIHadaBrain might just be a bit premature calling for the Dawn of the Cutler Era. Clearly, The Schnook is no bargain. But the Joke didn't lose last night's game. Like Herm sez, "you pass to score points; you rush to win games." And your rushing attack wasn't worth a bucket of warm piss last night. You gotta get T. Bell healthy....
With three of the next five on the road, the Chiefs are only a Conference loss-or-two from putting channel-locks on third place in the West. Meanwhile, the Blots game in 'Eggo is the toughest game remaining on the Mister Ed's schedule. You get a fading Cincy at home, and a Seachicken team that hasn't won a game in Elwayville since Morton was your quarterback. As for the Tards and Whiners... Put it to you this way, put Chuckland in the NFC West, and they threaten for the Division. Do you really want to subject JC to the Crow's defense come January?!
While I don't see a Lombardi with 2006-2007 stamped on the side collecting dust in Pat Bolen's office any time soon, I think that the Mules D, a healthy running game, and yes, an efficient, don't-put-him-in-a-position-where-he-has-to-win-the-game Jake Plummer oughtta be good enough to buy a ticket to the dance.
Hate to say it, but we probably won our playoff game last night. Sad to admit that the highlight of the season will probably be the Turkey Night torching of the hated HeeHaws and the fact that your town woke up grumpy this morning. Here's hoping that Herm proves this take wrong....
Unseasonably nice weather and a charged-up house made for a really good night of ball, Z. Other than the score, I would imagine that you too would've had a pretty good time. HeeHawFan represented well, and no one in Mule gear was used as a urinal, despite the lines. I've found that a shared hatred of all things Primer and Grease makes for fast friendships - ok, tolerance - between Chief- and DonkFan.Zilla wrote:Looks like Chef Fan had fun last night…fuckers!

Sorry, I don't watch enough TV or give a big enough fuck about the game to shell out the extra $80 or so a month just to watch a few extra games during the season. The NFL can go fuck themselves over this one as far as I care.

Trust me, RaF, it sounded even louder than usual in person last night. Oh, don't get me wrong: e's take on gold-level seating is dead-on. The local gentry that occupy said seats are usually too busy manifesting corporate takeovers while sipping Chardonney and sucking crab legs to bother themselves with anything as mundane as a football game... I've attended almost 200 Chief games in my lifetime. Atmosphere alone would rank last night's game in my personal top five. No excuses, RaF - your crib is exactly 250 miles from mine. Anytime you want to experience it for yourself - instead of living vicariously through the KC clones - lemme know.

I say what I mean.
Cutler isn't going to help Denver's offensive matters a whole lot.
I don't think it's 'wrong' to have him take over now though.
Reason being, he will get valuable experience.
When he is THE GUY at the start of the season in '07 he won't be doing so with -- zero -- NFL experience at the position.

Rack Truman!
The local news channel had a live pre-game report from the parking lot at Arrowhead stadium before the game; it was cool as hell to see support from Bronco fans. They also showed several KC fans having fun and kidding around with Broncos fans. The biggest rivalry in the AFC west is Denver/KC it’s been that way for a few years now. The loss to SD was hard to take; in fact, it should have hurt more than the loss to you guys but it just doesn’t! The hate and respect for each other is huge. Rack the Chef fans for showing class to the Bronco fans at Arrowhead!!!
As far as me wanting Cutler in… I don’t think he will make the team better, but I do believe he is the future QB for the Broncos. I want to see him get experience. If we stick with Plummer I think our chances of making it to the playoffs are better, but been there done that! I feel it’s time to rebuild and work towards more than just playoff appearances.

~ You have a short leash when you play quarterback for Mike Shanahan. ~
HUH ... ?
The leash Elway dragged Rat around on for 3 excellent seasons, I guess he is referring to, because since Horseface retired Rat has basically gone with Griese for 4 straight seasons and then Plummer for now 3 1/2 seasons.
Doesn't look like a short leash to me, particulary in light of the fact that neither one of those dudes has done much for Rat in post-season (1-4 record).
Whatever.

Cutler to replace Plummer as Broncos' starting QBESPN.com news services
The Denver Broncos quarterback controversy is headed for a resolution.
Cutler
Head coach Mike Shanahan will turn to rookie Jay Cutler to replace incumbent Jake Plummer for the rest of the season, starting with the team's Dec. 3 game against Seattle.
The Denver Post first reported the change Sunday, and team sources confirmed to ESPN's Chris Mortensen that Cutler will take over. ESPN.com's John Clayton said there's "no question" Cutler will be the starter against the Seahawks.

2006 SEASON STATISTICS

315 175 1886 11 12 70.5
Plummer has struggled all season despite leading the Broncos to a 7-4 record. Denver ranks 26th in the NFL with 171.5 pass yards per game and is tied for 21st in the league with 17.7 points per game. Plummer's passer rating of 70.5 is 29th in the league, ahead of only Bruce Gradkowski (70.1), Drew Bledsoe (69.2), Matt Leinart (68.1), Vince Young (56.1), and Andrew Walter (55.0).
That's not the most prestigious list. Bledsoe was benched after six games for Dallas in favor of Tony Romo; Gradkowski, Leinart, and Young are all rookies; and Walter is in his first year as a starter.
Plummer, meanwhile, is in his 10th season and has started 46 straight games for the Broncos since 2003 but has been unable to get the offense moving in 11 games this year.
Memo to Grandpa Al. This DOESNT mean he should be wearing a Raider uni next season!!!

Second guessing coaches in the NFL is..ahem....second only to watching the games. No big deal.

Cutler is the right call.
You want your best players on the field... not on the sidelines holding paper and a pencil.
The kid is way more talented than Plummer... and he went to Vanderbilt, not Arizona State. I'm sure he probably knows more about the playbook than Plummer at this short time in his carrer. All he needs is experience.

The peeps who don't participate can rant all they want about this and that, but put up or shut up.

I am not going to make a list. I simply gave you 1st round busts since 1990. That does not include latter rounds of the draft. That also does not include all of the losers drafted since 1979, when Montana was drafted in the 3rd round. You listed 4 great QBs. I listed 8 losers (1st rounders since 1990). Maybe my 10-15 guess was overzealous, but I doubt it.montinelevin wrote:You said there were 10-15 great college qb's that sucked in the NFL for each great NFL qb.stuckinia wrote:No 20/20 hindsight there.
