Today
Many scores and seven years ago the UCLA Bruins brought forth on this playing field a new thing against usc, a victory, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all teams are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great cross-town civil war, testing whether that team or any team so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here have given their lives these past seven years in seven losses in a row. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead who struggled here to beat the vaunted Toejams have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long rememer what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work of annihiliating the Toejams, exorcising them from the BCS title game, and placing therein the noble Wolverines in their stead. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us--to pressure, harass and otherwise crush John David Booty, thusly not allowing him to complete forward passes to the gargantuan Dwayne Barrett, and that we take increased devotion--that we here highly resolve that these defeated shall not have lost in vain, that this cross-town battle under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that a UCLA victory of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

Smell that? You smell that?
Bruin Blood , son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of Bruin Blood in the afternoon. You know, we have a streak going, for 7 years. After the last game was over, I walked up to their section. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' Bruin body. The smell, you know that Bruin blood smell, the whole stadium. Smelled like... victory. Someday this Streak's gonna end... but not today.
