#16 Goes into the rafters

Post by Adelpiero »

Hull gets his jersey retired tonight

ceremony will start at 530ish eastern.

will be first time Brain Sutter makes an appearance since being ousted as a head coach decades ago, shame, the guy was the ultimate bluenote, a guy with little talent who fought anyone, scored 40 goals in 2 seasons, and drove to the net, and grinded in the corner with the best of them. My alltime Bluenote player

i'm no Hull fan, if it wasnt for his selfish, prickish ways, the Blues might of won a cup or 2. Hiding at the oponents blueline(ala petr Klima) and playing no defense, while allienating the whole team, will always be remembered in my eyes. great scorer no doubt, best Blue? Nope But its time he gets his jersey retired in stl

Props to Hully...he was a good soldier in Detroit, I never had a problem with him. I didn't appreciate his behavior during the last World Cup though. He definitely should have his #16 retired in the STL...he's by far the greatest player in their history and he had his best years there. It should be a cool ceremony before the Wings come in and take 2 points from the blue note.

A lot of folks look at the trade between Calgary and St. Louis that sent Hull to the Blues and Rob Ramage to the Flames as a fleecing.

As a FlameFan, I say absolutely not. Ramage helped us win the Cup... Hull scored a lot of goals. I'll take the Cup any time.

But Hull did carve out a pretty nice career. I gotta say, even though I was young back then, I didn't think he'd be as good as he ended up being.
Still a FlameFan

I know I shouldn't laugh at that but I did...shame on me.

Anyways...it was a cool ceremony. FSN Detroit aired the entire thing which was a nice thing to do since he was a former Wing. Watching that ceremony gets me thinking that in less than a month #19 goes up to the rafters at the Joe.

I was reading the earlier thread about how the 'Hawks have sucked for a decade and couldn't help but think that will be the Note's fate.

They kept Hull all those years and let Shanahan, Brind'Amour, Oates and the organ go? For shame.

Hopefully for your sake that John Davidson isn't hockey's answer to Matt Millen...
