Herbstreet made the point i've been thinking: that Cal hasn't played an option team.....and blocking schemes like that. even in HS.
it may take a while for them to adjust.
coupled with the overall Big XII/Pac 10 Holiday bowl record. 5-2 XII.
but, we'll see.

Cal gives ATM a gift on that INT. ATM wasn't sniffing stopping Cal and Longshore throws into to centerfield.

the majority of the posts in this thread are from Big XII fans.
hilarious.
i'd suggest you played worse against Tennessee.

Ummm... you must have forgotten the 3 missed tackles from a true freshman that led to 21 points in 2 minutes.King Crimson wrote:the majority of the posts in this thread are from Big XII fans.

It's just about a year later... in football terms.

so, before you were telling us Tennessee was the best team on planet earth and going to roll through the SEC....but, now, it's freshman mistakes.
good thing you take a position and stick with it.
you were already selling out Longshore (who was the second coming last year over Ayoob) after he threw that deep INT.
how come there aren't any other Pac 10 fans in this thread? think about that one.

I was talking about the same game...
Come on Big 12 fan, you can do better than that.
Cal just took one of the best teams in the Big 12 behind the shed.
Don't forget the fact that Tennessee was stealing signs from the Kal sideline. And Lynch was totally taken out of the game because Tennessee somehow took a 35-0 lead. Also, Longshore pissed his pants before the game and there was not enough time for Tedford to change his diaper.420 wrote:...you must have forgotten the 3 missed tackles from a true freshman that led to 21 points in 2 minutes.
You shipped your windchime to jsc yet, idiot?

Just thank god... you didn't have to play us.
You're kidding, right? Aren't you fresh out of excuses for the year?mTard wrote:Just thank god... you didn't have to play us.

A few observations...
-Cal is clearly much better than A&M (sin, Marcus)
-Franchione is a very bad football coach
-Big 12 teams regularly look lost against complex, pro-style offenses
-Texas high school talent is third behind Florida and California
-A&M is the fourth best team in the Big 12 after OU, Nebraska, and Texas. They are not much better than OSU or Tech. Not to make excuses, m2, but don't go claiming Big 12 titles just yet.
-I am drunk
OT and not to be a downer, but my father passed away yesterday. I'm having a tough time but I just wanted to share the bad news with my virtual friends. Like CFB itself, my time spent here helps keep me sane in difficult times like these.
You guys (and gal) are out-fucking-standing. Anyone have anything funny to share that might cheer me up?

ATM needed a last second catch by Martellus Bennett to beat OSU and lost to Tech. in addition to home losses to NU and OU.

He heard the snowblower was coming.
Sorry about your dad, my old-man is 81 and I always wonder when I'm going to get the call from my mom that he has given up the ghost. Keep your chin-up bud.
I hope he, like my dad, was an ass-man. BOOMER SOONER

My best wishes to you and your family
I am really sorry to hear about your father. My dad was diagnosed with cancer last month and I have been trying to deal with it myself. It is tough. My prayers are with you and your family.War Stoops wrote: OT and not to be a downer, but my father passed away yesterday. Don't start that we beat them by 30 and they beat a team you beat by 17 by 4 shit.420 wrote:By how much did you beat Texas???L45B wrote:You're kidding, right? Aren't you fresh out of excuses for the year?mTard wrote:Just thank god... you didn't have to play us.
We just beat the living shit outta that same team by more.
... and we did it just for fun!
We'll talk about it later.Laxplayer wrote:So who's going to start ahead of Longshore and how can you say they're better....or in your words, light years better than him?
It seems that Nate did a pretty good job this year.
What War Stoops is going through... takes on much more than a game.
War Stoops, we're all here for ya bro!

Sorry I was not "in-game" but I was watching the game with The Chief in the basement. Just now getting to the computer to give my props to Cal.420 wrote:Where's Frisco??? and the Big 12 fans???
As I said in another thread, I didn't think we deserved the Holiday Bowl as t.u. had the better conference record. In all honesty, t.u. is the better team, but we happened to beat them on T+1 when we had a 1 in 10 chane of beating them.
So I said to Chief that what we had to do was stop Cal early and then get up early. That was our only chance of success. We did just that by making Cal go 3 and out and then scoring a TD on our first drive. After that, I give all credit to Cal's offensive and defensive staff and players. They planned and executed to perfection. Even when A&M drove down the field and went for it on 4th, they had the plays to stop them.
Props to Cal on their win tonight. I am only sorry we could not have put up a better game.

Franchione certainly brought his team back down to earth quickly. What surprised me was that ATM, a team that was very competitive in every game they played this year, got handled like that.
Nice game by Cal, fugly unis and all they played a well and finished with a respectable 10-3. While I don't see them surpassing USC but I think you definitely have to consider them the #2 program in the Pac.
