Mook.....Nick Collison article

Post by TheJON »

There was an article in the DSM Register today where Collison said the reason he didn't go to Iowa was because Tom Davis was let go. I never knew this. I knew he had an interest in Iowa, obviously since he's from here and grew up a Hawkeye fan, but I had thought he committed to Kansas his junior year (a year before Davis got booted). I was always under the impression that he grew up and Iowa fan but once Roy Williams started recruiting him, he was always committed to Kansas and I had thought Williams started recruiting him before Davis was gone.

I even knew this. Heinrich was committed to ISU before Floyd left as well.

I had heard that about Collison. I definitely knew that Hinrich was ISU bound before Floyd left. It turned out well for KU.

It would have turned out better if Collison could shoot foul shots!!!

Yeah, I knew Hinrich was ISU bound becaude when I played against his team in HS, he was an ISU recruit. Most of our team were Iowa fans, so we wanted to kick his ass. Just never knew Collison was planning on going to Iowa. So, if Tom Davis and Tim Floyd would have stayed at Iowa and ISU, Roy Williams might still be at Kansas. Perhaps, not having Collison and Hinrich would have led to tough years for the Jayhawks and then UNC wouldn't have wanted to hire him.

I think Roy would have had a Plan B if Collison and Hinrich didn't come to Lawrence. He'd still be at UNC, the faces of the players at Kansas just would have been different.

Most likely. Actually, I bet he would have left after Bill Guthridge resigned at UNC. Didn't he originally stay at Kansas and turn down UNC the first time because of Hinrich and Collison?

Those two along with Drew Gooden......at least that's what he said publicly. Who the hell knows though. Anyway, like I've always said Kansas and North Carolina would be fine regardless of where Roy decided to coach.

True. Doesn't matter who the coach is, they can recruit well because of the programs.

I would have liked to see Heinrich suited up for ISU but Tinsley came instead.
