105-103

What more can I say? The two top offensive teams in the Big 12 duking it out? The whole game was like a boxing match. Too closely played, one of those games when you hate for anyone to lose it, but someone had to win and so O-State did. Awesome Big 12 win in 3 OT's...and a 3 at the last second by the guy who is usually in the paint. Not known for his long shot, and not the first time he made a big one...but this one was really big! Some would say that is luck, but 37 points and 20 rebounds is NOT luck.

Does that mean that Oklahoma State is awesome...no. Just means that they played one of the best games I've seen (after a total meltdown last week), and came out ahead, and had to be nails to do so. A good win for the team to know they can do it when it has to be fought hard.

And pooldoc just lost a bet. Some old farts around here may know him. We always bet artifacts and local memorabilia on O-State and UT games. I think he is actually sending live plant cuttings this time. Wrap up the roots tight with wet paper towels so they will be alive when they get here, pool! :)

Awesome game. I'm paying for it today, but I'm glad I stayed up and watched the game.

Things I came away with from the game...

1. Little Sutton will die before Drunk Eddie by way of heart attack on the hardwood. Wish I could update my Death Pool.

2. Ghallager, as always, is a TOUGH place to play in.

3. Durant is a man amongst boys. That's the most I've seen of him yet and he is everything I've read about him. He's most def the best freshman not named Oden or Smith (:meds).

4. Normally, I would say t.u. will be a dangerous MF team for the next 2-3 years, but we all know Durant is going to head pro after this year. He has a phenomonal young supporting cast. Mason, Abrams and Augustine really impressed as well.

5. A&M has 4 games against these two teams. I am looking forward to all 4 and hope to hell the Ags get geeked up for these games as it will take 40 full minutes of balls out effort.

6. t.u. is for real and will be a contender in the tourney. They will only get better.

7. OSU is for real and will be a contender in the tourney. Curry and Boggan can carry this team.

8. Boggan ripped the fucking heart out of t.u. I slept well with a smile on my face.

I've watched Durant whenever he's been on national TV, and I am very, very, very impressed. #1 NBA pick may go for him instead of the big lug in Columbus.

Haven't seen Boggans this year. He's been hyped lot. Think the Phillips 66 color guy said he was the 2nd best player in the conference.

I think it was three years and three days since the 3OT Mizzou/Iowa State game that tore my heart out.

Durant will be the Top pick come June. I think Oden is special, but Durant is playing at another level now. Besides, I dont believe Oden will leave after this year anyway.

I think that really depends on how the season plays out. If Oden shows a little more than he has so far, he may be projected as the #1, or at least a high lottery pick. In which case, the money is too big to pass up.

Although at this point, teams would want Oden for his body, and what it might be capable of, rather than anything he's shown, really. If he's that slow at age 18-19, it's only going to get worse. Other side of the coin, Shaq was no speedster out of college, either.

I haven't really seen much of Durant so far...a little, but not much...just the way the stars have aligned for me. From what I've seen...yeah, buddy. A top-5 pick in any draft, and again, that's just too much money to pass up, and gets you to the max-salary deal that comes 4 years later that much sooner.

Ifg Durant does stay(as the pigs fly by), he'll be joined by Clint Chapman, from my neck of the woods here. He's overshadowed by Love and Singler, for good reason, but he's your prototype "big dumb hick" type player, maybe along the lines of Big Country or someone like that...not a big threat to PWN the NBA, but usually an asset to a college team. But watching all of the best HS players leave the state is really nice...not really. Texas is sure building themselves a nice hoops-rep, which only helps recruiting down the road.

Good CBB season so far. Going to make for some excellent trash-talking come March.

oden has said he wants to stay...

i think is he still very raw offensively...defensively dude can flat out ball...shot blocker, good rebounder, etc...but he tends to loaf on offense a little like he is DA MAN...plus the tOSU guards just kind of stand around waiting for him to do something...

I think he needs a little more help down low and next year tOSU has some major players coming in at the PF spots Dallas Lauderdale and Kosta SOMETHING or other...so that give tOSU major depth down low...

if he continues to improve offensively and again he still doesn't have 100% use of his right hand...then who knows...all I know is I am enjoying this season because the NBA finally woke up...they should have made the rule like college football 3 years removed from high school...fuckers...

Sound pretty reasonable. Id OSU gets him some help in the form of good, creative medium-post players...say along the lines of...looking for names...how about LaMarcus Aldridge or Rasheed Wallace, who can make turnaound/fadeaways from 15, then Oden could be a dunking machine. If a forward can draw defenders out a little...watch the heck out for Oden.

But jumpin jeebus, dude is slow. His size seems to help him on defense. He needs to move his feet more to ever be a great NBA caliber defender. Good instincts, good defensive awareness, but sloooowwwww. Size sure makes up for some of that, though.

^^^^^^^^

agreed...could still be rounding into basketball shape who knows...but he is starting to come along offensively...he would need to gain weight in order to do battle against the likes of Shaq, etc...but hey more power to him...

upside is huge (obviously)...I think Dallas Lauderdal and Kosta are exactly those types of players than can shoot the 12-15 ft jumper with consistency and can drive as well..Kosta is a 7 footer that has a nice outside shot...so again if he stays tOSU would have to be considered 1 of say 3 or 4 teams that can win it all...

right now Cook, Conley, Lighty have been playing reasonably well...Oden still rounding into form...Hunter (JUCO) a very nice surprise...

agree Dins going to be a great March Madness...too bad the NBA didn't wake the fuck up oh say 10 years ago...can you imagine some of the March Madness with the likes of Kobe, Garnett, LeBron, etc...fuckers...

Oden would be no worse than the #2 pick in the draft if he were to leave. Even if he's projected ahead of Durant I'd still put the odds of him coming back at 50/50 right now. He's a real good kid with a good head on his shoulders, and he truly loves the game of basketball and wants to learn and get better. It's very probable he'll be enticed into sticking around another year to not only grow as a player and a person but to make a title run.

FWIW, in the pros:

Durant = KG
Oden = Duncan

Oh yeah, and that 3OT game was amazing.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
