Give me your picks, Shine.....
I think IU probably wins due to our struggles on the road this year. We simply cannot put together a 40 minute performance away from Carver, regardless of the opponent. But, Assembly Hall seems to be the only tough place in the Big-10 that Alford has been able to have some success at. So maybe that trent will continue tonight. But until I see this team go on the road and win, I cannot pick them. Only win away from Carver this season has been on a neutral court against Toledo.
Haluska and Smith will have to combine for 40 if Iowa wants any shot of winning because those are the only 2 guys on the team that give us anything offensively on the road. If they can do that, I think the Hawks will have a shot.
Will be interesting to hear how the crowd reacts to Alford being introduced being that this is his first return to Bloomington since this past summers coaching search debacle.
Hoosiers 63
Hawks 60

I'll be disappointed if IU wins tonight by less than 10. We have a real coach now so subpar teams aren't going to come into THE HALL and leave with a W. We have plenty of defenders to throw at Haluska and despite your "thinking" Smith isn't the 3rd best freshmen in the country.
As for Alford, I'm sure he'll get a warm reception. We still appreciate all he did for us as a player and now that the threat of him coming back to coach is over we can go back to celebrating his Hoosier career.
IU- 74
Iowa- 58

I guarantee you this will NOT be a blowout. It's gonna be a close game either way. You can defend Haluska all you want, but he's still going to get his points and contribute. You can't shut him down. Even if he has an off night shooting from the perimeter, he'll find ways to get points like he always does. Smith will add in double figures. That will be enough to keep it close. It's not like IU has a team full of All-American players. And then the Alford factor. His teams always show up to play at IU.
Close game, either way. And don't be surprised if Iowa pulls the upset. We just need either Tony Freeman or Justin Johnson to give us some perimeter help like both typically do in home games. I guarantee you this, if we get either perimeter help offensively from Freeman or Johnson or we get inside help from either Tate or Gorney, Iowa will WIN.
We are a better team than our record shows. The problem is inexperience. But we are one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the country and we do not turn the ball over a lot. This team will be tough to blow out.
No way does IU roll in this one. It's going down to crunch time.

So much for your guarantee of a close game noJ. Had Sampson not called off the dogs with 8 minutes left this thing could have gotten really ugly for your boys. To their credit they kept battling till the end even when the game had already been decided. Rematch in Carver-Hawkeye will be interesting.
Note to you and any other B10 folks: throw out what you did against IU the past few years, those numbers are meaningless. We had a Gump for a "coach" then, now we've got a real coach.

Yeah, that was embarrassing. I'd like to thank IU for quitting midway through the 2nd half so that we could make it a close game!
For whatever reason, this team can't go on the road and play well. We're a completely different team at home. We go from being the worst team in the Big-10 not named Northwestern (on the road), to a top half team at home. I don't even wanna know what Ohio State is gonna do to us on Saturday.
Yes, it will be an interesting rematch at Carver. I'd recommend IU fans get tickets to that game and make the roadie. No one else will be there. Pretty much everyone hates Alford and is refusing to go to games until he's fired. I'd like Alford to stay because of the recruits he's got coming in the next couple years, but I'm tired of hearing the fans whine like little bitches. Unfortunately, I think it's just time for Steve and the U of Iowa to part ways. It's best for both. And from the way it sounds, if attendance keeps going down, Alford will not be back next year. Fans just absolutely hate the guy even after the season we had last year.
