Saints at Bears call it!

Grossman is a timebomb, and the Bears defense is not as good as even the 1994 Chargers.

The Saints have WAY too much talent to not win this game. Grossman will remember that he is Rex Grossman and wind up throwing a couple of pics to the Saints weak secondary. Deuce will run all over their ass and Reggie will have at least few big plays. The Saints should be ready for the cold weather as its been in the 30s all week here. Saints to the Super Bowl!!!

TardTard, have you ever lived north of the Mason Dixon line .... ?

Forecast I see for Chicago is calling for a high of 27.
Winds from the NNE (off the lake) gusting to 17 mph.
A 'real feel' -high- (like you) of 17.
Snow, 1-3 inches accumulating.

Your Saints are FUCKED, dude.

I'm here to tell ya.

I would agree with you if they were going to play the Pats in Foxboro in those conditions, but you must remember who they are playing. The "weather" is not going to beat the Saints, nor will the Bears. The only team that can beat them is themselves....or maybe an AFC team.

Soldier field will be a shit hole as usual, and Reggie Bush won't be a factor in this game. The entire game will slow down a bit and look for the Bears defense to bail them out again.

I don't see the Bears stopping Deuce AND Reggie. Saints beat the Eagles with a strong running game and a great underneath game to the TE's... the Bears play a cover 2.. how do you beat a cover 2? With the underneath game.

Bears D has NOT looked good for the last 4-5 weeks - Loss of tommy Harris in the middle has been huge. Gave up a lot of points to a very suspect Seahag offense last week now they are going against the top offense in the division

I see the Saints pounding Duece and Drew making some big plays downfield to colston & henderson.
On the Bears side, I see Grossman forcing some throws to try and keep up.
The wildcard would be a devin Hester return, but even that won't be enough.

It's Karma time for New Orleans

Does it really matter. Neither team stands a chance vs the AFC.

Saints win...24-10..... then they lose to the raydahs during the trophy presentation.

From my post at the "other" board...

Does anybody not remember the Falcons (a DOME team) punking Green Bay in the snow in the playoffs not too long ago? Get over the weather folks. It CAN be done. The Saints have found ways to adjust to win the big games this year. They have every chance of doing it again today.

Just in case you don't remember...

I didn't forget.

Why don't you post links showing all the times that 'warm weather' teams have gone north for playoff games and ended up with shit coming out of their ears .... ?

FAR lengthier list.

Well, your Saints will get the calls Sunday, so that ought to help.

I don't think either team is really all that good.

Enjoy the game.

I think the rushing duo we'll be discussing after this game is Benson and Jones.

I think the snow and cold, Bears D, and Hester in special teams will be the ultimate difference.

Since weather is such a hot topic with this game, here's the 36-hour forecast in Chicago...
http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/b ... v_business

Snow, a significant but not strong wind and temperature right around freezing...run of the mill winter day in the upper midwest.

The two things affected most by this type of weather is the deep passing game and the ability to cut. Having a power running game and an effective short passing game is usually the two most effective ways to combat the conditions.

Both teams can run the ball with power between Benson and McAllister. We'll see how effective Jones and Bush are...I guess I'd give the edge to Jones because he's a little straight-ahead runner than Bush. Of the 4 backs in the game, I see Bush being neutralized by a slick field considering all of his lateral movement when he makes his big plays. In the return game, we'll see how dangerous Hester is.

With the short passing game, I think Brees is the more accurate passer with the short to middle length passes while Grossman's strength is his ability to throw the deep ball to Berrian and Davis. Look for Clark and Muhammad to his top targets. Brees' best weapons are the deep threats of Colston and Henderson. Bush is effective out of the backfield but as I mentioned, his lack of traction could make him less effective. Grossman's lack of accuracy in the short game is what could lead to turnovers.

If the conditions are fair, I think the Saints are more dangerous offensively but I think the playing field is narrowed when the conditions neutralize some of the speed and agility of the their skill position players. Reggie Bush vs. the sideline-to-sideline speed of the Bears' linebackers is the matchup to watch today. If Bush is held in check, the Saints will have to look to McAllister's power running game as the way to help open up Brees' passing game.

If the conditions start to resemble a blizzard, look for the defenses to dominate and the Bears have the better defense overall. The better the conditions, the better the Saints' chances are. I stand by my pick of the Saints winning by a touchdown or more but clearly, the weather will play a factor...although it will effect both teams, not just the dome team.

I'll pick the Saints. Why the hell not.

As far as whether either team would be able to beat the AFC team, just keep in mind how utterly frigging foolish the "experts" sound now after they pretty much all predicted that the Ravens and the Chargers would be in the AFC Championship today. So, those former players/coaches can sit there and analyze for our entertainment, and we can all spout off here about who'll be getting smacked all over the field today or on February 4th, but the fact is....every frigging one of us is talking out our asses.

Hell, I found some of the stuff posted here in the last week or so more entertaining than anything on the pregame or postgame shows on Fox or CBS...

:x

This has been a pretty shitty week to say the least. The Saints laid a giant turd on Sunday and immediately afterward so did my server at work. I had to pull one all-nighter and two equally shitty long days after that. This is the first time I have had any free time to respond here.

Quick thoughts on the game...

Bears D showed up to play. Mega props to them.

The Saints play calling blew fried monkey carcass. No balance whatsoever between the running and the passing game.

The field definitely had an effect on the Saints but I thought they'd just run it up the gut and it wouldn't matter. Oh well. Wrong on that one. :x

Thanks to the Saints for the good run this season. Hopefully next year will be even better. Just please do me a favor and get fucking rid of Fred Thomas!
