This would be a whole lot funnier if the link worked.

It works on my machine.
You might be more successful with a little initiative.

Go to the O'Reilly Factor website and click on the Colbert interview.
Then go to Comedy Central to see them swtich places.

Colbert has his moments. I watch his show once in a while and find it funny. I couldnt watch it everyday though. His schtick would get old fast.

I understand Colbert is considered pretty funny as a vee-jay and, well, comedy is kind of a hobby of mine. Well, actually, it's a little more than just a hobby, Reader's Digest is considering publishing two of my jokes.

Those guys are far too irreverent to be funny I would appreciate if you didn't post about them anymore.

Furthermore, you are to stick to posting about normal modes of music, not weird stuff. Those who we'd find acceptable here would include Lawrence Welk, Jim Nabors, Mantovani...

Pat Robertson's Age-Defying Shake

Did you know that Pat Robertson, through rigorous training, leg-pressed 2,000 pounds! How did he do it?

Watch a video of Pat leg-pressing 1,000 pounds.

Where does Pat find the time and energy to host a daily, national TV show, head a world-wide ministry, develop visionary scholars, while traveling the globe as a statesman?

One of Pat's secrets to keeping his energy high and his vitality soaring is his age-defying protein shake. Pat developed a delicious, refreshing shake, filled with energy-producing cunt cookies.

Discover what kinds of natural ingredients make up Pat's protein shake by registering for your FREE booklet today!

I sort of thought he was referring to a different type of protein shake. You know, the kind that Cisssyroo and Crown are so fond of sharing.

Maybe it was a clever double entendre.

Or not.

After leg pressing 1500 lbs, I'm guessing he does the "search for his testicles dance".

I just watched both interviews. It appears as if Colbert was/is unable to answer any questions as himself. Hence, he needed to do an imitation to answer (and even then, he's only mocking the interviewer). No, he's not funny. He merely proved, in his schtick, that the whole 'daily show/whatever his show is called' hour has absolutely no legitimacy. Perhaps some who turn to John Stewart for their news (do they REALLY do that? Unreal.) should look at this performance as a white flag admitting that they have no substance and, therefore, nothing to say. Besides, South Park has more political savvy in five minutes than the Colbert/Stewart tag team has in an entire hour. Just sayin'.

Regardless as to how many times John Stewart maintains that his show is 'just for amusement and comes on right after a show about talking puppets', I don't think anybody is so daft to believe that it doesn't, and isn't intended to, influence the opinions of younger people. http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/0 ... tature.ap/ Do you disagree? Actually, the Daily Show has placed themselves in a rather advantageous position.

1. They undoubtedly hold influence over a voting block.

2. They can fall back on the whole 'we're just for entertainment' argument whenever criticized for their stance on a particular issue.

3. Their fans rather religiously follow their stances and assessments in lock step.

The fans of the Daily Show are the same people who, in the early-mid 90's, were strict adherents to MTV and their equally 'non-partisan' (wink, wink) Rock the Vote movement. I guess it does make me happy that most of the viewers of the Daily Show and their spinoff (whatever it's called) don't vote. Allows me to sleep at night, actually. ;) Peace, little sisters.

Wah!

So you're upset that there's a show on with a point of view that you don't agree with.
And you don't think that OReilly's show has a point of view?

I guess as long as it agrees with your rather limited point of view it's OK, otherwise it's only aim is to corrupt our impressionable young, right?

You really have a lot of growing up to do, boy.

O'Reilly is a vile creep and every bit as demented as Rusp Limpdick. Colbert is very funny and here's a truly first rate example. Not only hilarious but a genuine milestone in the history of this nation. (Gotta love the "Gannon" button on the press secretary's podium. Was Scotty the recipient of those 100-plus overnight stays by the former male prostitute?)

Okay sunshine. Lesson time. Do you have your sippy cup ready? Are you in your happy place? Then take a seat and I'll explain the facts of life for you.

Bill O'Reilly is a commentator. He acts like a commentator. He sounds like a commentator. He admits to being a commentator. He has a point of view and influences many prospective voters. He makes no bones about who he is and what he does.

John Stewart is a politically motivated comedian. He is also a commentator. The difference between him and O'Reilly is that he doesn't admit to being a commentator. He claims that his show 'isn't serious' and 'doesn't have any agenda'. However, it is quite serious (albeit, with a certain humor) and does (apparently) have an agenda. Their stance makes them very bullet proof to any criticism and enables them to attack whoever they wish without worry of consequences. Classic case in point with this is Colbert. He can act like a total buffoon to O'Reilly, never having to make a rational point, and his fans will lap it up like the automatons that they appear to delight in being.

Again, I sleep well knowing that they rarely vote.

And Colbert still isn't funny.

What part of the O'Reilly Factor is it that you disagree with? As I said, he's a commentator. Entitled to an opinion. I listen to his radio show. He's fair with all guests and has a wide variety (has been trying to get Obama for a bit now, actually). Do you not like that he sides with the right more than the left? Do you not like that he EVER sides with the right at all? He's anti-death penalty and thinks we made a mistake going into Iraq. Though he supports Bush, he regularly criticizes him. He's very much against the Vermont Judiciary's seeming softness on pedaphiles. His show serves as a forum for open and honest debate. What is it that he says that makes you not take him seriously? Really, I think such criticisms should come from other sectors than a third tier comedian (Colbert) a 'well past his prime' talk show host (Letterman) and a Rosie O'Donnell to truly be taken with more than a grain of salt. Let's have your issues with him. Give them to us and make your case. You will be disqualified for your first ad-hominem attack. But then, those aren't necessary, right? Let's have them. The mic is yours.

The common denominator here is...

Republicans have no sense of humor, and they either live in Orange County, or they're poor white trash from the Midwest or some other rural community around the country.

I'd like to thank...

bco and fat paula for the laughs!

They've given all of us many laughs at their own expense without actually knowing it.

Never seen more than one clip of Colbert's show (an "interview" of scientist Ken Miller on the whole evolution/creationism debate) and it was pretty funny for that five minute bit. Not sure if I'd want to watch it in large doses. Yes, Dubya is, without dispute, one of the stupidest individuals to ever set foot in the White House (including visitors), but I'm not sure that going to that well over and over again makes for classic comedy. I'm more of a P.J. O'Rourke fan, and even some of his latest stuff is not to the standards of his earler work, IMNSHO.

My liberal friends find Colbert and Stewart hysterical, my conservative friends have referred to them as anything from "not that funny" to "loathsome." Going by that sampling, it's obvious that the political biases of the viewer are pretty much the litmus test on judging those shows. Big surprise.
