The Chinese Found....
A way to render the NMD system useless that I don't think anybody had previously thought of.....
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,245119,00.html
why worry about adding countermeasures to your ICBMs when you can just blowup the National Missile Defense targeting satellites while they're in space......
so they've shown another method to beat this already archaic system that hasn't been developed yet......
somebody give me a credible argument as to why we keep pursuing this horseshit.......anybody....
National Missile Defense..........
great fucking idea......

let me ask you a few questions:
first...are you out of your fucking mind.....
second, how long do you think it takes a missile to travel from earth to reach a target in space recoginizing that a targeting platform would be, at max about 200 to 300 miles in space.....
third, how could the US ever react quickly enough to attempt to shoot down this missile.....

Yo, Felix.
What's with the rather annoying proclivity of yours anymore to end every sentence with.......
As for them Chinks getting all uppity and stuff: They're ostensibly against the militarisation of outer space, so they demonstrate that noble goal by shooting down a satellite? Way to further your cause, dumbshits.
A nice little U.S. naval "exercise" off the coast near Shanghai or the Taiwan straights might be in order in the coming months. One carrier battlegroup should get the message across.

Re: The Chinese Found....
Exactly. It would be an interesting problem trying to figure out how to shoot down a missile travelling in a 200 - 300 mile almost vertical trajectory, and do it from 6000 miles away. That would take a pretty fast missile.Felix wrote:yeah, shooting it down....another great idea......battery chucka' one wrote:

Even if you could do that what's to keep the Chinese from shooting down the missile that you're using to shoot down their missile that they are using to shoot down your satellite.
Really, though, you have to consider bco's level of intelligence when you respond to his posts. He's prolly already worked the whole thing out with Legos.

Re: The Chinese Found....
Ever heard of a high intensity laser beam? They make them. They could be used to shoot down a missile. Step 1, turn on your laser. Step 2, move it around until it touches the missile. Step 3, keep it on the missile until it either a) blows the missile out of the air or b) disables the missile to the point that it crashes. These are hard ideas to grasp, I know. Perhaps you should ask your babysitter to help you with them. Just sayin'.Mikey wrote:Exactly. So you get your "news" from O'Reilly and your technical knowledge from comic books.
How come I'm not surprised?
I guess we really should be worried about our "younger generation".
Do you have any idea how ridiculous what you just posted really is?
"Move it around until it touches the missile?"
BWAHAHAHAHHAH!!! My God and GOD how pathetically naive can you possibly be?
If this was even remotely feasible, how come they're not doing it right now?
You do realize that, even if the hardware were even close to being available, you have to have a line of sight to "paint" something with a laser, right? You do realize that the earth is round, right?
I guess we could put a bunch of mirrors in orbit, and use those to "move it around until it touches the missile".

Perhaps the idea of radar escapes you. And, btw, how do you know that they're not doing it right now?Mikey wrote:LOL.battery chucka' one wrote:

Yadda, yadda, yadda.
So now you're claiming that you can shoot down missiles from 6000 miles away using radar?
Do you know of any radar that works well "over the horizon"?
I guess the saddest thing about the really terminally stupid is that it's impossible to convince them of how stupid they really are. They just don't have the minimal amount of intelligence necessary to recognize it.

Radar is just one example. Our troops, using satellites, can call in strikes down to the yard. But a missile coming in from several thousand miles away is unfeasable. I guess the next thing you're going to tell us is that the earth is flat. Gotcha' little sister.

Speaking of inane, why the need to "defend" themselves against what is essentially a defense?how dare those Chinese take steps to defend themselves......
Aww, did the term "Chinks" make your twat bleed? Perhaps I should have used the term "Gooks" instead. Yes?oh and Chinks???? way to punctuate your point whitey......

against the US positioning a targeting platform in space for the National Missile Defense system.....that's the way this system is designed to ultimately "work"......haven't you been paying attention.....mvscal wrote:

Satellites are a part of a communication network.
As far as I know, and I don't but I'll give it a shot, waging war involves trying to take away your opponent's ability to wage war. Destroying an opponent's ability to communicate, a necessary component in successful war waging, will therefore be an offensive manuever geared towards taking away an opponent's ability to wage war.

given the criteria you've set forth, how could a targeting platform in space be considered anything but an offensive weapon......Tom In VA wrote:but I'll give it a shot, waging war involves trying to take away your opponent's ability to wage war.

of course that presumes the Chinese would launch an all out nuclear assault on the US which again pretty much insures that China would be wiped off the face of the planet......
laying the ground work for the Chinese invasion of the US right....mvscal wrote: It would be used to disrupt communications and GPS equipment.

My god damned toilet paper is probably "Made In China", now if that isn't a successful invasion, I don't know what is. We might as well all learn Cantonese, it's over.Felix wrote:

Christ, remember Clinton's "Black Beret" fiasco ?
First, he steals the U.S. Army Rangers soft cover and distributes them to everyone. Then to add even more insult to injury, this time making sure he insults ALL members of the U.S. Army .... inside the label of the first sets of those "Black Berets" was the wonderful inscription "Made In China".
Now they're made in Vietnam probably.

If you don't see China invading Taiwan as a very real threat, you haven't a clue of what the situation is. It would have happened long before now without U.S. support.Felix wrote:mvscal wrote:Or concealing preparations for an invasion of Taiwan.
damn dude, you see boogie men everywhere......
It will happen if they detect one bit of ill-resolve on the part of America.
If we cede Taiwan, how long before they go after Japan?
This isn't about boogie men, fool. It's about a sphere of influence and strategic power. If you doubt that this very real scenario can happen, then you haven't paid any attention whatsoever to your history books.
ps: Nice job completely changing your post around after I captured the original wording. Make up your mind the first time what you want to say before mashing submit and then having second thoughts. Not that it would matter. You'd still look ignorant.

mvscal seems to think the Chinese are going to start blowing US satellites out of the sky as a prelude to invading Taiwan secretly.......of course anyone with an IQ over 50 knows that destroying a US satellite would constitute and act of WAR.....
anything else you know nothing about you'd like to discuss......

Can't we get back to the main topic:
How fucking ignorant can bco possibly be?
Actually, I think the Chinese mainly did this to prove to themselves, along with everybody else, that they could actually do it. The US and Russia both did it once and then agreed not to continue. It's to nobody's advantage, including the Chinese, to start creating debris fields in low earth orbit. They want to be able to exploit space for commercial purposes as much as everybody else does.

And here I thought it was more about the Chinese "just having the right to defend themselves" (your words) against a purely defensive technology.
I reckon that you haven't quite explained that, so indeed, there's something else we can discuss.
Or, you can just admit that you know nothing about this topic that you started and bail.

If for nothing else, then this would suffice. Perhaps the Chinese have realized a well aimed offense is just as good as a half ass defense.Mikey wrote: It's to nobody's advantage, including the Chinese, to start creating debris fields in low earth orbit. We will all soon be so dependent on satellites for all of our global communications needs that no one would be fool enough to take out billions of dollars worth of technology just for the slight possibility of getting over on another country unscathed.
I don't see the chinese pulling anything, However that does not preclude the insane muslims from trying something destructively stupid.

Does somebody here think that taking out satelites will render ICBMs useless? What dumb shits. Did it occur to you that we got this thing called inertial navigation. WE been working on it for 50 years give or take a few. They have it. They do not need a satelite to tell them where the fukk to go.
