ND's McAlerney suspended for rest of semester
from the rumor mill (aka the ND scout/rivals boards), ND's ResLife has suspended McAlerney for the rest of the season for his guilty plea to possession of weed after being busted by SB PD off campus a while back.
something official should be reported around noon tomorrow. for right now, it's just unofficial.
there you go, rival big east fans. a big setback for the irish.

He was dismissed from the university. Nice overreaction, ND. Especially considering the half a joint (on second search of the car) wasn't his. Fuck you Bill Kirk and the rest of the ResLife/Student Affairs cluster fuck.Screw_Michigan wrote:from the rumor mill (aka the ND scout/rivals boards), ND's ResLife has suspended McAlerney for the rest of the season for his guilty plea to possession of weed after being busted by SB PD off campus a while back.

yep, ND really dropped the ball on this one. let me guess: no one of the opposite sex in the dorms after 7 p.m. and the door has to be open all the time? would make a lot of sense considering the lack of sense that was made in this decision.Killian wrote:He was dismissed from the university. You're not that far off. ND has pariatials in place, which is no member of the opposite sex can be in your dorm room past 12am. Tony Driver got suspended for this.Screw_Michigan wrote:yep, ND really dropped the ball on this one. let me guess: no one of the opposite sex in the dorms after 7 p.m. and the door has to be open all the time? would make a lot of sense considering the lack of sense that was made in this decision.Killian wrote:He was dismissed from the university. No one associated with ND, outside Monk Malloy and his minions (Bill Kirk included) agrees with this decision. Suspend him, fine. Harsh, but reasonable. Kick him out of school for two semesters? Now you're fucking with the kid getting an education. Fucking bullshit.

Agreed that the sentence is far too harsh. From a fan's standpoint, the team is still playing fairly well without him, but you're talking about a decision that could potentially impact the rest of this kid's life.Killian wrote:You're not that far off. As for parietals, they are (or at least were, in my day) midnight during the week, 2 AM on Friday and Saturday nights.
A few parietals war stories that can probably be told now since the statute of limitations has expired.
- I broke parietals once. A bunch of us were watching Letterman at a girls' dorm on a Friday night and I fell asleep during the show. I woke up and it was 3 AM. I quietly snuck out the door, and no one was the wiser.
- A buddy of mine ran for Student Body President at ND, and asked a bunch of us to put up campaign posters in a girls' dorm. Campaigning officially started at midnight; he had us go over about 5 minutes earlier so we wouldn't break parietals. The student newspaper got wind of that, as well as the fact that our dorm newsletter had endorsed him before campaigning started, and all hell broke loose. My buddy wound up losing the election even though he was the far better of the two candidates.
- When I was a senior at ND, there was a parietals violation that got campus-wide attention. Apparently, a female student had been distrought over news that her cousin had committed suicide, and her (male) friend wound up staying with her out of concern for her. They both fell asleep and got caught. They were both suspended for the rest of the year, which most, myself included, thought was way too harsh. I believe ND left the door open to a possible return the following year, but since I graduated I never found out what happened. [Zysdale]Btw, the girl in this story was the sister of Hannah Storm.[/Zysdale]
Not defending Monk for his stance, but Hesburgh wasn't exactly the most understanding person in the world when it came to parietals violations either.

Ooh, you broke parietals once. What a fucking rebel. Let me get this straight. You found yourself in a Catholic girl’s bedroom late at night, and your immediate instinct was to flee?Terry in Crapchester wrote:I broke parietals once. You were a virgin when you married, right? Or at least a Catholic virgin, where you save your virginity until you’re engaged.
WOW. Just. Fucking. WOW.

Geez, Gooberina, the ankle biting gets real old after awhile. It was rather obviously unintentional on my part.Goober McTuber wrote:Ooh, you broke parietals once. A couple of things.Let me get this straight. You found yourself in a Catholic girl’s bedroom late at night, and your immediate instinct was to flee?
First, it wasn't a bedroom. It was a suite. I was in the living room area.
Second, there were several of us in the exact same situation. And we all did the same thing. I can't speak for the others, but personally I wasn't too keen on the idea of being suspended or expelled. That one would have been tough to explain to my parents.
Third, the females in question were all asleep. Last time I checked, it's considered rape under those circumstances.
Fourth, as I've said before, when I was there the old adage went: Notre Dame: where men are men and women are too. No need to explain that further, I hope. Although, considering who I'm addressing, that might not be the case.

The ND Campus was located in CNY back in those crazy days?

Yet another dullard who gets slammed and claims his ankles are being nibbled. Is that your only defense, Terri?
A couple of things.
First, the same thing happened to me more than once my freshman year at UW. I wasn’t supposed to be in a girl’s dorm room after curfew either. Much greater chance of getting caught sneaking out than just staying the night, though.
Second, there were times when a couple of us found ourselves in the exact same situation. And we all did the same thing. I can't speak for the others, but personally I wasn't too keen on the idea of being suspended or expelled. That one would have been tough to explain to my parents. That’s why we stayed put.
Third, if the female in question was asleep, I woke her up and asked if she would mind sharing that bed. Hey nothing’s going to happen, I just want to get a little sleep, etc. Surprising how young ladies who suddenly find themselves sharing limited space with some guy they barely know whilst both are wearing nothing but underwear suddenly become quite horny. Last time I checked, it's considered good clean fun under those circumstances.
Fourth, Notre Dame may have it’s share of homely women, but so does the UW. A significant percentage of the female students are farm girls. But no school is without its share of hotties and near-hotties. That’s the type of female whose dorm room I wanted to visit. No need to explain that further, I hope. Although, considering who I'm addressing, that might seem like some kind of pipe dream.
BTW, Terri, you still haven't admitted that your wife was your first.

In the situation I described, that wasn't the case. Parietals extended until 11 AM the next morning, so there was bound to be plenty of activity in the dorm long before we could "legally" say that we had arrived that morning. Also, parietals weren't exactly a "lights out" type of situation, all it meant was that opposite sex visitors had to leave. A door opening and closing isn't necessarily a dead giveaway under those circumstances. And the room I was in was a corner room located very close to an outside door. Once we were on the first floor, we were pretty much home free.Goober McTuber wrote:First, the same thing happened to me more than once my freshman year at UW. Maybe so, but at the time ND also had three guys for every girl. Did UW?Fourth, Notre Dame may have it’s share of homely women, but so does the UW.

No, but if it had, I have little doubt that I could still out-smooth the other two guys to get the babe. I’m just as confident that in the same situation, you’d be fucked. And not in a good way.Terry in Crapchester wrote:Maybe so, but at the time ND also had three guys for every girl. So your wife really was your first. And only. Sorry.
