I watched the game. The clock never started until after Clemson's shot was in the air, if anything it could have helped Clemson if they had missed and gotten their own rebound. Both teams could have possibly benefited from it. I myself was a little shocked that Duke was given 4.4 seconds left. I thought it should have been closer to 3 but the refs were confused b/c they didnt notice when the clock didnt start when Clemson inbounded the ball.

Just saw on ESPN that they counted down right when the Clemson player touched the ball. The ball went through the basket with 2.4 seconds left. How an an official can come to the conclusion that only .6 seconds can come off the clock when a player touched the ball, spots up, then shoot a 3 pointer is freaking ridiculous.

The truly sad thing is CBB fans were deprived of what in all probability would have been OT. Speculation of course but my $$ is that Dook wouldn't have made the half court shot they'd have ended up taking with only the rightful approx. 2.5 seconds left on the clock.

How refs manage to continually fuck up calls that they are able to review on the replay monitors is baffling.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

That was completely botched by the officials and the clock operator. Call it some kind of Duke conspiracy if you want but anyone who saw that would agree that the tying shot by Clemson should've left a second on the clock at most if the clock was ran correctly. That would maybe leave just enough time for a Hill-to-Laettner heave and a desperation shot and not the easy shot that McClure had. Clemson did get jammed because they should've had a better opportunity for that to go to OT but they also did a poor job defending that last play. It's kind of like the Oregon-Oklahoma debacle where the onside kick didn't cause Oklahoma to lose...it just put the wheels in motion for them to lose. The missed call didn't lead to Clemson losing the game because they could've stopped Duke from scoring and took the game to OT.
