The All Star Game

Post by Cicatrix »

I am going on record saying that that was the worst rendition of the Canadian anthem since that dude sang it to the tune of "Oh X-Mas Tree".

Terrible.

The game will be awesome in comparison.

Whose bright idea was it to schedule the game on a weeknight on a channel that many people do not even get? Ridiculous.

Props to the Campbells for holding the Wales to three field goals...

12-9, West. Good Lord.

Pretty much what we should expect from every All-Star Game...lots of goals and a few impressive individual performances. The Ovechkin-Crosby duo was a flop but I'm sure we'll see more from them in future All-Star games. I know it doesn't mean anything but I thought Rick Nash was the best player on the ice...he should've won the truck instead of Briere.

The new Jerseys are ok, but the Eastern colour scheme was gax. Bring back the Black and orange, but really, who cares?

Don't like the form fitting jerseys at all. Player on the losing team winning the MVP? Weak.

That rendition of O'Canada was one of the worst I have ever heard. Nice crowd, how about cheering a bit during the introductions for players that aren't from Dallas.

Agreed. O Canada isn't something to trick up and turn into an American Idol audition. Neither is the Star Spangled Banner. Wish this included the Canadian anthem, but this is from 1991, just a few days after Desert Storm started. Emotions were running pretty high. My favorite athem rendition of all time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvpxVE_kQXg in my favorite stadium of all time. Chilling.

I heard the Dallas fans cheering for all players, though Boucher, Turco, and Guerin got the most. No brainer there.

because the owners didn't want to give up revenue from a fri/sat night game.

Terrible excuse if that is the reason. For a league still trying to win back fans this was certainly the way not to do it.

Gotta love that the Andy Griffith Show had higher ratings on TV land. This sport needs help badly. The marketing is the worst of any major sport. Hell, the MLS does a better job marketing their sport.

It's obvious the NHL needs to get a new TV deal. I do like the way OLN/Vs. does hockey but no one is watching and not many are finding a reason to watch the games and look up what channel it is on. I wish there was a better option then ESPN but I don't think they'll be able to get back any audience short of returning to that freak show of a network. I think people would like to watch a real sport on ESPN and not all of the other games and events they use as filler.

It would be tough to be on ESPN this time of year with all the college basketball that they have on, which isn't a bad thing. They do need to find something better than what they have with NBC/Versus at this point. It's an absolute joke to have the All Star game on a weeknight on a non major network.
