Deschutes Brewery is opening a brewpub in the Pearl District, Portland

they'll be brewing on site (the small batches from the pub here are 10x as good as from the plant)

should be solid gold, eh?

Ooooh, so sorry I'll be missing it.

I'm hallergic to the psuedo-yuppies of the Hurl District.

They can call it "urban renovation," but I call it "seven-digit condos sitting on the ground where the heroin dealers used to roam."

Put it this way -- they give away free booze during First Thursday(which would be this week, I guess), and I've never gone...if that speaks to my love for the Hurl.

I was supposed to go help a friend with some home repairs in Bend last week, but that plan didn't quite come together. Too bad, since a trip to the brewpub was definitely on the itinerary.

You fucking foreigners opening your brewpubs in Portland to look cool...too bad Rogue beat you to it with their patented brand of nasty. At least Deschutes won't make me vomit.

I've heard of that Pearl Dist. thingie... never been there. probably wont. I'll stick to hawethorne ,bellmont and downtown.

Rogue? ouch. we'll feel that one for a while

If you know Gary, he's not the type to open up shop in an old building on the east side. Sounds like this Pearl Necklace District is right up his alley.
It'll be packed with tards 24/7

and the beer will be good

1st thursday? bwahahahaha you dont want to drunk shit merlot out of a plastic cup do ya?

YOU AIN'T DRINKIN ANY FUKKEN MERLOT!

right?

I would expect it to be drastically overrated like the rest of their offerings.
heh heh

I'll put a pub batch of Mirror Pond up against any beer in the world.

Have any of you tried any of Stone Brewery's beer?

If you like "hoppy" ales, you have to try Arrogant Bastard. It is a great beer that will knock you on your ass.

We'll keep an eye out for it.

Stone is one of the very few imports that gets the U&L Seal of Approval.

As does Anchor...which I don't see around nearly as often as years past.

You mean a lot of people in Denver haven’t heard about it. Maybe the telegraph line was down for a while.

Colorado has the second most breweries in the states, and most people want to drink CO beer. Not the shit that comes ot of CA.

Honestly I can’t remember the last really good beer I tasted that came out of Colorado. I’ve had better tasting beer that was made in Indiana. I can think of one or two people I know that drink CO beer, and it’s that horse piss from Coors.

Oh, and Vic -- don't think your subtle funny with the search parameters went unnoticed.

And CO has the highest number of shit-churning breweries in the country...brag that one up. DON'T EVEN compare any of the swill that comes from that state to the finest offering that california produces...although cali still lags far behind their neighbors to the north.

The city I live in has more breweries than any city in the world-btw. And the worst one still blows away that nasty fucking crap that Colorado seems to think is good.

It seems to be the consensus amongst my circle of drunks that Deschutes is finally starting to get the quality-control roped back in since the expansion. I was actually kind of shocked to see that they were releasing new products when the existing ones were going downhill...that was very Rogue of them. But, things seem to be on the upswing in Bend again...thank goodness.

Might just have to crack a pre-noon Mirror Pond...yup, don't mind if I do. Cinder Cone is pretty bombastic, as well...and I hate red brews.

Actually, seems more Bud. Of course, I live in the Southern part of the state which is close to STL, but even in Indy, at the RCA Dome, they only sell Bud products.

well, they're not out of the woods with me yet. But the small batches at the old pub are always spot on. Cinder Cone bottles a lot better than Mirror Pond. AB wants to buy deschutes, but I don't think he'll sell yet. We'll see though.

Can anyone get Caffrey's Irish Ale anymore??

I'm a big Guiness guy, but Caffrey's might be my favorite pint ever. I can't get my hands on any anymore. I had some in London about 6 mo. ago and I forgot how good it is.

I'm not sure if there's a sponsorship thingy, but at Seahawk Stadium, which is a long way from STL, and the Budnasty brands are all you see there, too. Sure, U&L Bud(just typing that is WRONG) comes from...Fairfield, or one of those NoCal ghettos(we'll just call it "Oakland"), and that's still a long way from Seattle. I don't think it's a location issue...just a guess.

Newsflash -- AB wants to buy EVERY successful microbrewery, and they're willing to grossly overpay to do so.

Tell your buddy that his life may be in danger if he whores it up that badly...help pioneer the greatest beer industry in the world, and then stab everyone in the fucking back...nice reflection on one's character.

I mean, it came as no suprise from the Widmers(largest microbrwery in the country...not sure at what point it's no longer "micro," but I'm quite certain that line is crossed once you sell out to AB...who has since moved to a much cheaper part of town to do business in...fucking whores), since the Widmer Brothers, or the one of them that I know, is a walking, talking, breathing piece of excrement(and a flaming homo).

Oh well...if the McMennies keep going the way they are, they'll be freaking buying AB sooner or later...and they'll proibably hire some doped-up hippies to paint the outsides of their plants with paisley-psychadelic shit.

They've been pushing a plain-old pale lately...yummy stuff. Got a little tanked at the Roadhouse last weekend, for myself. Had to mix in a few nut browns, since I'm usually a sucker for seasonal stuff this time of year.

They make a couple of IPAs, Alpha King which I can buy in Wisconsin, and Dreadnaught which only shows up at the summer beer festival. Get some Dreadnaught, it’s awesome.

Oh, and Hammond, IN where Three Floyds is is the furthest away in the state from where I am so I may not be able to get it, especially in this small town, but I'll give it a try. We have a German restaurant here with all kinds of beer. They may actually have it.

They started out in Hammond, moved to Munster. If you have a local liquor store that stocks good numbers of microbrews, ask them if the sell Three Flloyds. If they don’t, ask them when they’re going to start.
