The units did not have the batteries exposed. They were wrapped in black electrical tape. If the batteries were exposed then it would look less like a bomb. No names or anything on it either. No ATHF ID. Just a picture of something flipping people off and wires connected to a black taped wrapped something.

Why the locations that they chose? On structural supports of bridges? If they were more out in the open then fine, but the placement of these is strange. It's almost like they wanted this to happen to get more publicity. They wouldn't do that on purpose now would they?? Shouldn't they be required to notify the local officials to place them on city structures? Especially something that is profane?

Could you envision a scenario where "decoy" devices are planted to obfuscate the location of real ones ?

That isn't from 24 either, like I said, I haven't watched an episode. I'm thinking wooden tanks in England and stuff, real use of decoys.

Sure. All you have to do is phone in a threat to the location of choice and maybe place something that...get this...actually looks like a bomb. Pretty wild, huh?

What you wouldn't want to do is just tack something up that looks nothing at all like a bomb and hope somebody notices and thinks it's a bomb.
So we can take "Lite Brite" boards and lights rigged with batteries off the list of potential IED devices then.

Thanks.

RACK these fuckers new conference yesterday in which they gave all the hack news reporters a big "FUCK YOU!"

All they would talk about is hair styles (mostly regarding dude's dreads)
Image

Wouldn't answer any questions regarding their "terrorist attack." RACK them for this. It was hilarious. I'll try to link up some audio later. The Story:::

Moments after emerging from their arraignment for the Boston bomb scare featuring a cartoon marketing ploy, the two giggling suspects launched into seemingly nonsensical banter that actually promoted yet another TV ’toon.

On the Charlestown courthouse steps, Peter Berdovsky, 27, and Sean Stevens, 28, blathered about “’70s hairstyles,” with the dreadlocked Berdovsky telling reporters: “I think my hair is pretty perfect.”
Investigators told the Herald the performance was a way for the freelance artists to promote “Perfect Hair Forever,” another show that is part of the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming.

Wednesday’s bomb scare was the result of an “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” stunt in which blinking wired-up cartoon figures were placed under bridges and underpasses.

The antics of the two men charged with the use of a hoax device and disorderly conduct have so infuriated Mayor Thomas M. Menino that he wants local movie theaters not to show the film based on ‘the show.

“I’m not saying we are banning the movie, because I can’t ban it, but out of respect to the people of Boston, I am going to ask local movie theater executives in the city not to show it,” Menino said. “They are not deserving of our respect, or to make one penny from their movie here.”

Meanwhile, Interference Inc., the company that offered to pay Berdovsky and Stevens $300 each to plant the devices, is being eyed for possibly trying to impede the investigation by telling the artists to stay quiet in e-mails that investigators say are now part of the case.

During their arraignment, Berdovsky and Stevens laughed out loud as Assistant Attorney General John Grossman, chief of the high technology and computer crimes division, described the illuminated figures as “bomb-like devices.”

Minutes after the duo pleaded not guilty and Steven’s mother posted her son’s $2,500 bail and an Arlington woman who employs Berdovsky as a babysitter posted his, the suspects told reporters they would make a statement - but would take no questions that did not involve hair.

Under the law, the suspects could face two to five years in prison for each hoax device planted, if prosecutors can prove that they intended to “cause anxiety, unrest, fear or personal discomfort.” Disorderly conduct carries a maximum of six months in jail or a $200 fine.

Berdovsky - a political refugee from Belarus - could be deported if convicted.

The chaos that seized Boston for 14 hours on Wednesday began at 8:18 a.m. when Mark Adamoyurka, 33, an electrical engineer from Everett, told police he had seen what turned out to be the cartoon device on a support beam at MBTA’s Sullivan Square station.

“I was pretty sure it wasn’t a bomb. I thought it was a kind of an overreaction from the police, but I guess these days it’s better to be safe than sorry,” Adamoyurka said. “It looked like art, very bright and not threatening. Didn’t occur to me it would be a big deal.”

A similar device, “containing batteries, wires, magnets and other components,” was found in the South End at 12:54 p.m.

Six minutes later, Boston police got a call from Tufts-New England Medical Center security that they had found what appeared to be - but was not - a pipe bomb, left by what turned out to be a disgruntled employee who said: “God is warning you that today is going to be a sad day,” police Commissioner Ed Davis said. That case was unrelated to the cartoon bomb scare.

If I don't think what will happen? Prison time for either guy (impossible)... or dude being deported (possible)? Both?

If you're going to mash out a response... try and make it sound logical, okay? You responded to my take was that neither one will face prison time. Don't try to add something in after the fact....

I would like to see them do some time. Just to wipe the smirks off their faces more then anything. My main point was that if for some reason they escape jail time then the dreadlocked guy for sure is sent home...... Was it worth it for him?

Deported?

That would require him to be convicted of a felony (presuming he is not an American citizen).

Now, do us all a favor and read the law these two are charged with breaking.
Chapter 266: Section 102A1/2. Possession, transportation, use or placement of hoax devices; penalty; law enforcement or public safety officer exemption

Section 102A1/2. (a) Whoever possesses, transports, uses or places or causes another to knowingly or unknowingly possess, transport, use or place any hoax device or hoax substance with the intent to cause anxiety, unrest, fear or personal discomfort to any person or group of persons shall be punished by imprisonment in a house of correction for not more than two and one-half years or by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than five years or by a fine of not more than $5,000, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

(b) For the purposes of this section, the term “hoax device” shall mean any device that would cause a person reasonably to believe that such device is an infernal machine. For the purposes of this section, the term “infernal machine” shall mean any device for endangering life or doing unusual damage to property, or both, by fire or explosion, whether or not contrived to ignite or explode automatically. For the purposes of this section, the words “hoax substance” shall mean any substance that would cause a person reasonably to believe that such substance is a harmful chemical or biological agent, a poison, a harmful radioactive substance or any other substance for causing serious bodily injury, endangering life or doing unusual damage to property, or both.

(c) This section shall not apply to any law enforcement or public safety officer acting in the lawful discharge of official duties.

(d) The court shall, after a conviction, conduct a hearing to ascertain the extent of costs incurred, damages and financial loss suffered by local, county or state public safety agencies and the amount of property damage caused as a result of the violation of this section. A person found guilty of violating this section shall, in all cases, upon conviction, in addition to any other punishment, be ordered to make restitution to the local, county or state government for any costs incurred, damages and financial loss sustained as a result of the commission of the offense. Restitution shall be imposed in addition to incarceration or fine; however, the court shall consider the defendant’s present and future ability to pay in its determinations regarding a fine. In determining the amount, time and method of payment of restitution, the court shall consider the financial resources of the defendant and the burden restitution will impose on the defendant.

Good luck getting twelve jurors to believe a reasonable person could have thought a blinking Lite Brite was a bomb.

Here's what will happen. They will plead to disorderly conduct with a conditional discharge. Time Warner will settle gladly with Boston out of court and this will all be forgotten in 6 months.

I think the reaction that you saw earlier this week says your wrong. I agree that Time Warner will settle the money issue out of court. The fact that these two clowns think it was funny will be their downfall. To mock the people in power and of this state the way they did will be their undoing.

But these jurors will have the benefit of looking at this...

... in a sterile courtroom setting. There is no way in hell anybody buys the idea that a REASONABLE person would belive that is a bomb. And, even if you can get 12 people to buy into that very weak argument, good luck showing the requisite intent to cause fear, anxiety or unrest.

What is Menino going to have them charged with... "dissing"? A couple of burners hung some ads around the city. It's a misdemeanor... they'll pay a small fine (paid for by Time Warner I'm sure) and do no time. None.

I heard that Time Warner already agreed to pay the city any and all costs incurred by their dumbfuckery (the city's)... fuck Menino for the uproar that he and/or his subordinates caused.

Those two guys whose smirks piss you off to such a degree are probably HOPING for some jail time to come from this. That would increase the priceless run they're on by a factor of ten. Jail time would be a best case scenario for them.

Tell me you were aware of this.

Wassup Neeley?

Remember this thread?

Turns out that the two artists had to pretend they were really serious about saying they were "sorry" and do 60 and 80 hours of community service. The "hard time" they did consisted of...
At Spaulding, the men designed a cartoon mural that will be painted in a waiting area for children undergoing physical therapy, said Oz Mondejar, Spaulding's vice president of human resources. They also helped patients use computers, cleaned the hospital's sailing docks and helped produce a DVD featuring patients talking about their rehabilitation successes.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id ... _article=1
So they got sentenced to a two week long internship.
