Chaser Update
Ok so last Saturday we played a tourney at a birthday part
13 people 40 buy in...SC finds himself heads up with his wife for the title...no chop...no way...we need a clear cut winner...
FIRST FUCKING hands heads up...I am on the button and look down at AMERICAN FUCKING AIRLINES...i smooth call blinds are 1/2K...hoping either my wife re-raises and or just goes all in...I had her covered by about 5K in chips...she thinks for a second...then goes I am all in...I left skid marks on the fucking felt getting my money in the pot...I table AA, she tables Q/J off...
flop Q/rag/rag...turn Q (FUCK ME), river J...just for good measure...So I am crippled and she wins a short time later when I jam my last 4500 into the pot after posting the BB of 3K with A/5 and I knew she had a big K...which she did...and the flop comes 444, turn 10 (which gave her the boat)...so I go onto finish 2nd but I got my 40 back since I bought her in...so we wound up with 180 each...
so onto the chaser update...we were playing 4 handed cash...we play $.50 chips so we play $.50/$1 blinds...
first hand I get dealt KK on the button...I raise to 6 chips (or $3)...two guys fold BB calls...this is one of our chasers...so I figured he either had an A or something suited....flop comes 22rag with 2 diamonds...he insta bets so I got him now on the diamond draw since if he had a 2 he would have checked...he is smart enough to do that at least...so I call his 6 chip bet...turn is a K...so I am like MONEY...Kings full...he checks...I check to let him catch up...river A of diamonds...he bets 6 chips (I could raise but I am setting him up for later) I just call...he tables K/7 of diamonds for the nut flush...I say no good boat...so I caught the case King and he caught the worst possible river card...
2 hands later I get dealt J/8 in the BB...called around to me...I rap the table...flop comes 588 with two clubs...I fire 6 chips into the pot...goes fold, fold, and chaser decides to call...so now I think he has suited clubs in his hand or he might have something like K/5 or some shit like that...he calls...turn is another club...now he fires out...so I go through a quick thought...am I behind (yes)...am I sure...(yes)...my trip 8's just got counterfeited...can I afford to make this call? YES...the way I figured it...I had 2 more 5's, the case 8, 3 jacks and the other card on the board (couldn't remember 3 x) so I had roughly 8 clean outs...so I make a loose call knowing I was behind and knowing I would shut down on the river if the board doesn't pair...well presto one of the 5's hits the river...he fires 6...I raise to 12...he insta calls and tables A/4 of clubs for a turned nut flush...i table j/8 for the rivered boat
I guess I did the chasing but I did try and get him out on the flop (albeit I should have made it more expensive)...but when the turn card hit I don't understand his play...he had the nut flush...had he checked and took his chances with the river he may have gotten more out of me...after thinking back on my call of the 6 chips on the turn there was
4*2 BB in the pot to start 8 chips or $1.50
we both threw 6 chips or $3 in on the flop so that takes the pot to $7.50
so when he bet 6 on the turn...that made the pot $10.50 so it cost me $3 to win $10.50 I was getting 3 to 1 to make the call...and I was about 18% to make my hand (roughly)based on the rule of 4 and 2 (9 outs left on the river *2) = 18% so I feel i was justified in the loose call...but you guys may see it differently...when one of my cards hit I knew he would call no more than double his bet...
thoughts? tips? pile on? am I now a chaser???? oh the horrah

Re: Chaser Update
Ummm, in your first example what EXACTLY are you setting up for later??? I'm guessing a hand just like this one. I can't think of one reason not to raise here. With all due respect, this wasn't a good play. Now, if it was just a friendly game and you're trying to save your buddy some $$, then that's cool. But I don't gather that was the reasoning here. If this situation comes up when you're in Vegas raise it up......you won't have to be subtle about it either.buckeye_in_sc wrote:first hand I get dealt KK on the button...I raise to 6 chips (or $3)...two guys fold BB calls...this is one of our chasers...so I figured he either had an A or something suited....flop comes 22rag with 2 diamonds...he insta bets so I got him now on the diamond draw since if he had a 2 he would have checked...he is smart enough to do that at least...so I call his 6 chip bet...turn is a K...so I am like MONEY...Kings full...he checks...I check to let him catch up...river A of diamonds...he bets 6 chips (I could raise but I am setting him up for later) I just call...he tables K/7 of diamonds for the nut flush...I say no good boat...so I caught the case King and he caught the worst possible river card...

In your second example there was no problem with the call. In fact, it was a good call. Now on a double paired board it's hard to imagine him thinking his flush is good in the face of raise, but he made the call, so good for your. And I think you had 3 fives for outs, not two, but I could have misread.

Mook you are correct 3 fives in the 2nd example
1st example it was a friendly game and he is a good guy so yes I could have really stuck it to him...in fact I know he would have gone all in had I said that on the river...he would have gave no thought to a boat...but you know at these stakes $20 buy in...not wanting to take away action later on...I got enough of his money of the course of the year...he is not a bad chaser but he will chase we have 2 others that are horrendous chasers...
thanks for the input...

i quit playing holdem at the casinos. i get bored too quick.
i play the fuck out of the table game(texass holdem). won 700 last weekend. gave 200 back earlier today after work.
hitting the game hard this weekend.
i play every hand, no matter the cards. 2-3 off, i hit 2 pair. if ya dont play, ya wont win on the game, its streaky, so ya have to play to win,.

You got that right...variance in that game is a bitch though...last time in vegas got on a SUPER KILLER run with the bonus (yeah stupid bet) but hit AK and KK within like 5 hands to get up big then won a few key hands...sat down with 200 and left with 500...of course the next time around couldn't hit shit...I like the game...
i still want that dealer to have AA when i have AA...1000 to 1 in most vegas casinos...i'll take it...

i dont play the bonus(hit 22,55,88,ak,aa in consecituve hands) the AA hand was brutal, i lost hand and didnt have bonus, dealer pulled cheezy 2 pair with 4 6 in hole. dealers always give me shit, but hey, i win more than lose at the gamebuckeye_in_sc wrote:^^^^^^^^^^

the bonus actually makes the game a coin flip on house odds.
i play 15-20 on ante. which i feel kinda validates no bonus. if your playing 5 on ante, you should always play the bonus(so they say).
in vegas i made super runs. was in for 600, then went on a run, and had over 2500 in $25 chips. started playing 100 on ante, won a few lost about 4 in a row, and cashed out, 1300 up, not bad after being beat up and having bought in for 600, was down to last 120 when i made my run. bought in for 200, 200, then 200.
i was playing one morning, and the dealer had a straight or better in 9 consecutive hands, i'm sure you can guess how well i did that morning. i had a flush and lost to a boat 2 times, was brutal, and every hand she beat me with, i had top pair or 2 pair, so i bet it out, brutal.
oh well, playing 2morrow night at harrahs in stl, bogus game, flush or better to get paid in back(total house game).
He's talking about the table game on the casino floor, not Poker Room poker.Tyrone wrote:You are what experienced poker players refer to as a "Human ATM Machine" at the table.Adelpiero wrote:

I am not sure Texas Hold Em table game has been around for 5 years...in fact I just saw it over the last year or so...
I agree with Al...you got to play just about every hand...I mean even if you only play 5 ante and 5 bonus...why not...I have had AK, KK, etc...hit bonus...flop a set to lose to a straight numerous times to the dealer...so how do you not bet and or play that?
be curious to know Tyrone's stance...
when is your book coming out by the way...
was just in vegas...first time I sat down got dealt AA...hit the bonus and was lucky to win my hand...so there is no skill involved in this game...as far as I am concerned...

Congratulations. Keep up the good work.Tyrone wrote:I play very conservatively and I am up over $30,000 in the last five years there Gomer so feel free to get on my table and be in EVERY hand. It takes skill to play which you obviously do not have so stick to the games with the rest of the farmers.
I'm interested to get your insight into winning poker.
I'll assume playing with farmers is lesson #1.

Really? They've been playing it in many rooms around these parts since before I was of legal age...and that's going on almost 20 years now.
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one
It's the game on the casino floor with the Black Jack Tables, Pai Gow Poker Tables, Three Card Poker tables.......It's pretty new.Dinsdale wrote:buckeye_in_sc wrote:I am not sure Texas Hold Em table game has been around for 5 years...in fact I just saw it over the last year or so...

Thought that table game was only around a short while...
Trip update for Mook...
VEGAS ate my lunch, kicked me in the stomach and left me on the side of the road...I have never been so card dead in my life...
these are some of the hands I lost where I finally picked up a hand and or had the ammo to re-raise someone, jamm the pot after a raise, or flat move all in with blinds at deece levels...
me AK opponent A4 4 flopped
me AQ opponent AJ I moved all in with a raise ahead of me (small) to try and take it down only to be called by someone else with A/J and the jack hit the flop
me AK opponent K6 I had to move all in after losing to a rivered straight I believe with two pair so I had about 700 left at a 100/200 level 6 flops King on the river
me AK opponent KQ fucker hit the CASE fucking Queen on the river to send me packing
in all these situations I would have doubled up at a earlier level and had some room or it was necessary to make these moves...after seeing 2/7 off, 3/9 off and the like for hand after hand you just have to make some kind of move with these hands...
played the Venetian 180 very nice tourney...only had about 5 playable hands...finally picked up A/Q at 100/200 with a 25 ante so there is 500 in the middle I make it 600 to go UTG...my bad here as the BB only has to call 400 to see the flop...flop comes out 8/10/J...I pick up a gut shot...not knowing what the BB had I move all in for my last 1200 and he calls with 10/8 suited (clubs)...turn...KING...of clubs...so I got the straight but he gets an ass load of more river outs...river club and he hits his flush...he catches, runner, runner, runner as the third flop card was a club...
bad trip on the cash side as well...played 4/8 limit at the Wynn and Bellagio and did ok in the first 1/2 hour of both sessions but then again went card dead...just horrible all the way around...
the thing that summed up my trip...Saturday (we took the red eye back saturday night) we are playing a 65 buy in at Paris with 1100 to the winner...finally see AA early on and get a little action...then get moved to a new table with only 30 left...I pick up QQ first hand and pick up the blinds...very next hand i get KK...I was like woah...guy UTG min raises to 400 so there is 700 in the pot with blinds and his raise...I move in...guy behind me re-raises and the UTG moves all in FUCK ME...UTG tables AA, I table KK, and the guy behind tables 44 (what the fuck was he doing)...did I play this right? There is no way in hell I am laying KK down pre flop unless I maybe re-raised to 800 and he calls...
more later...

I'm confused.
Are we referring to Hold'Em tables, which have been around in card rooms since before I was legal age(and I'm pretty sure in downtown rooms 100 years ago, before they outlawed such things...which didn't stop rural bars from having games for ages), or are we talking about some new variation that I've never heard of?
Sorry, not a Vegas guy.

sorry for the retard tyrone
its a table game, your hold cards vs the dealers hold cards, using a normal holdem flop(flop, turn, river) you double your ante to see the flop, check or bet your ante on flop, and check, bet the turn card. its the newest game in the casinos(most of them around the country)
it has bonus 30-1 if you have pocket aces, etc.
its actually a good game.
Web Page Name
house has 2% advantage. if you bet the bonus, its a coin flip. good money to be made, game has more runs than a nba game, but faster action.
