UT replaces Chizik with Mac Duff
Maybe you all knew this as it happened on the 7th of Jan, but here it is none the less.
Guy has a nice resume all over the football map from high school to college to pros. Wonder if he is looking to springboard to head coach or if he'll stick. He is referred to as a "great teacher", led Arizona's "Desert Swarm" defense of the 90's, and also doubles as a special teams genius.
Think he'll be as good as Chizik? 2 years ago Chizik, not last year's looking past his current team towards his next one Chizik...

we are not nearly as bitter now as you guys were after 4 straight. ask Vito, he forgot UT fans were booing Simms all through 01 and 02 but preferred to recollect it as "no reason to bench Simms"....in his defense of Applewhite (???). that's Horn Pravda right there or straight off of the propaganda pages of mackbrownfootball.com.....where reality is always plastic. and the horns always win.Harvdog wrote::wink: God I love Bitter OU fans!

soonerfans ain't nearly as bad as hornfans or mackbrownfootball.com. you guys were two plays away from winning the 65-14 game in 03 on mackbrownfootball.com.
and that is an "official" coach site. what a joke.
anyway, keep raiding that Desert Storm defense of the whenever they were all the championships they won. CHizik was your guy. hell, you guys were sucking up to Greg Robinson too. which was kind of sad to me, to see you guys slurp his nonsense.
Joe Kines would have been my choice.

I have been following Texas football since Earl was wearing #20 and in all my years I have witnessed Texas fan boo one player in one game, and that was Simms in the B-12 championship. At no other time have I witnessed such a horrible display. To say that Texas fan did it for two straight years is pure BS. The school and the alumni were pretty divided on who should start but outside of Oklahoma games Texas was winning so Mack had no reason to make a change especially in 2k1 when Simms lead us to the championship game.King Crimson wrote:we are not nearly as bitter now as you guys were after 4 straight. ask Vito, he forgot UT fans were booing Simms all through 01 and 02 but preferred to recollect it as "no reason to bench Simms"....in his defense of Applewhite (???). that's Horn Pravda right there or straight off of the propaganda pages of mackbrownfootball.com.....where reality is always plastic. and the horns always win.Harvdog wrote::wink: God I love Bitter OU fans!
The funny thing is stoopid had the same issue with Bomar and Thompson and he took the QB that should have been starting and made him a receiver and took the guy who threw a temper tantrum in the lockerroom and made him the starter.
Give me Mack and his QB situation any day over the way stoopid handled his QB issues.

in 2001, Simms didn't lead you anywhere. Rashaan Woods did. for all your hidey-ho hornism, horn boards were eating their young about Simms over the Major. and so were the national media, which i will not defend.
are you going to deny that? i used to read horn boards....and it was not pretty re: Simms and Greg Davis.

Major was the starter til he tore his ACL in the 2000 Cotton Bowl. He never healed fully til his senior year, Chis stared his soph year for the most part and did a ok job. In every loss Texas had the QB graded out pretty high, it was our defense that sucked shit. In 2k1 Chris never did anyting to deserve to be benched, even in our loss to blOwU he was not the reason we lost. Well all that was true til the Big 12 title game where he completely melted down, and that is where Major won the job back.
Now lets look at the way stoopid handled his qb controversey, he recruits Paul Thompson as a QB, Texas recruits him as a receiver, he chooses blOwU because he wants to play QB. He then recruits Bomar and promises him he would be starting by his redshirt freshmen year. So last year Stoopid has two QB fighting for the right to start and Bomar, because he doesn't like the idea of earning the job throws a temper tantrum in the lockerroom. So what does Bubba do, he gives Thompson a few token plays and then makes him a WR, he hands the job to Bomar (A move I personally loved) but very short sighted.
In retrospect Stoops lied to Thompson, he never had any intention of starting him at QB, well, at lease not until he had no choice. He promised Bomar the starting job and handed it to him when everyone spooner knew Thompson deserved a real shot.
So yes, in retrospect Mack did handle his QB issues much better than Stoopid did,
