I was still reeling from the KU/OSU game yesterday and have an interview tomorrow for a cool job, so what does a woman do in that situation...
I went to buy some shoes :)
And while buying cool shoes, I came across a man who has sold me several pairs of shoes in the past years at the same store and we started talking about what we do. He told me that he was very happy to see me now because he is going to take some time off soon, one of his two vacations of the year. So I asked him...what is the occasion?
This shoe salesman takes a week of vacation every single year to sit at home and watch the NCAA basketball tournament! The way he explained it was that he is a shoe salesman, has been selling womens shoes for 20 years, lives on his own and never had a wife or kids so he treasures that one week every spring to just sit at home and watch as many good basketball games as he could in one week.
Now, that's a fan!
You never know where you will meet a sports fan

I have no idea, couldn't really get an idea on the guy other than he sincerely loved NCAA basketball, but after he made the sale he admitted that he was an OU fan and threw in the tiebreaker thing on the conference race once he found out that I was an OSU fan.
I just loved the idea that he was taking rare time off from selling shoes to see games, and brought it up with a woman where there was no reason to bring it up. You all know I follow basketball...this guy only knew I was looking for some cool shoes for my interview. He had no reason to bring it up other than I asked him why he would be gone for a week on vacation. I was not wearing an OSU jersey or orange basketball shoes, but was looking as normal as I usually do, looking like a boring 40 something career mom.
But, hey...these things happen. I was happy to hear how he was so looking forward to his time off to watch some games, and I loved the shoes he sold me. Kind of entertaining on a slow night in the moat :)

An OU fan taking off work to watch basketball? I'm calling bullshit. :wink:Ang wrote:... he was taking rare time off ... to see games

I do it every year. I will begin pulling my disappearing act next week when the confrence tourny begins. Our secratary laughs at people (litereally) when people call for me in March. She politly informs them that I only work a couple of days at this time of year :DRadioFan wrote:Ang wrote:... he admitted that he was an OU fan ...An OU fan taking off work to watch basketball?
