Yeah, I'm sure he burned some bridges.

I don't agree w/ him though about the Tradition being the same. I think tOSU has one of the richest traditions in all of CFB. Only schools like ND, Michigan, Bama and USC can match their aura IMO.

He does make a good point about the "other 8 months of the year."

Columbus is a dreary, dirty shithole.

ahem...that is why a school has to SELL Tradition?

Overall SUCCESS of the program???

the climate hasn't changed up here...global warming be damned!

he stated the obvious...DUH and SO?

FACT is....the "BLESSED Schools" still only have so many scholarships to offer...same as the 'step-children' up NORTH!

i'm 40....this dog and pony recruiting trick has been run since well before my days here.

Agreed on tradition......but tradition really doesn't win you many games, players do. Florida is building tradition along the way.

tOSU has won a ton of games the past 100+ years. They dont have the best weather when compared to the schools down South, but they should be selling the hell out of their tradition. Their 6 Nat'l Titles, multiple Heisman trophy winners, succes of players in the NFL, their facilities and their unreal alumni support. Plus, watching a game at the Shoe must be unreal. My parents live in Ohio and I am hoping to make it up for a game this year.

Not too mention they just went 11-1.

Typical college fishwrap article. Every fucking "columnist" tries their damndest to cause a stir.

While at A&M, here are some articles I can remember off the top of my head...

Bonfire should be banned because of effects on environment

Midnight Yell should be canceled. Encourages late night drunken behavior

Hopwood... (nuff said)

Aggie Raggies (heckling baseball fans) have no place at Olsen Field (you have to experience a game at Olsen to understand, but basically one of the funnest parts of an A&M baseball game is the good-natured heckling of the other team. )

President Bush Library bad idea for A&M

Get the picture? There's a lot of Erin McQuinn's out there...

Believe the Heupel wrote:Dude, it's one of the funnest parts of ANY college baseball game to heckle.

We rattled the first baseman from Southwest Missouri State so badly once he took a golden sombrero and made a couple of fielding errors. Guy was a little portly, and one of us stood up and hollered at him as he was taking the field "Hey! 2-4! I got a number for you: 1-800-94-JENNY!"

Dude stops, shakes his head, then jogs out to his base.

Every time he gets up to bat, "JENNY CRAIG WORKED FOR ME!"

Mind you, this cat was carrying a .400 average into the game.

Never discount the power of heckling in college baseball.
My buddies and I used to go to UofM's baseball camp as kids, so we started to follow their baseball team as closely as we could (pre internet). We went to see them play University of Detroit and as we were walking behind the backstop, the next hitter for UofD was in the on deck circle. Mind you, we were all of 12 at the time.

My smart ass buddy: "Hey 17, you gonna try for your sheets this at bat?" (Guy was 0-2 with 2 K's, getting your sheets =KKK or 3K's)

The guy looks at him, goes up, K's.

It was a pretty high scoring game so this guy came up a total of 5 times. On the fifth time, we happened to be walking by again when that guy was in the circle

My buddy: "Are you really gonna strike out 5 times this game?"
UofD player: "Fuck you, you little asshole!"

Backwards K to end the game.

My buddy still takes credit for a partial save for that game.

With the fatboy first basemen, we always used to yell as they stepped into the box and took their half practice chops.

1 Twinkie
2 Twinkie
3 Twinkie

We also would yell at the base coach in case he got out of the box. I remember "Sceeter" from Sam Houston St. "Skeeter's out of the box!!!"

Always fun when the other team played along.

Ah yes, the 'ol Golden Sumbrero! I saw a guy do that in AAA against the Iowa Cubs once, probably 11-12 years ago.

Goes without saying. We're talking college baseball here, man. College players have more at bats in 62 games than pros do in 162.

I don't remember that guy. I used to think it was funny to throw ice and pennies at the Cubbie Bear when I was young and sober. Now, I enjoy getting liquored up and throwing ice and pennies at the Cubbie Bear. Good times!

When I was a student at ND, I remember someone writing in the Observer that the student section should sit for the next football game. It's a tradition at ND that the student section stands for the entire game at every football game and the big basketball games, sitting only at halftime.

That suggestion went over like a lead zeppelin, btw.
