I think it has something to do with the fact the Semenholes got a blessing from the Seminole tribe.

The "Saltine Warrior" was a student dressed up as a stereotypical Native American. The name "Saltine Warrior" references both the Onondaga Indians and the role of salt in the development of CNY.

I like my explanation (even phrased in the form of a question) better, so I'm stickin' with it.

You would be correct.

I still think the NCAA should focus their attention on more important matters. i.e.

Busting their ass trying to find any possible way a playoff could work and suspect recruiting tactics.

Yeah, I think that was kinda touched upon the last 50 times this subject came up, dating back a couple of years.

Then again, the topic of JSC being a dumbass dates back further than 2 years.

Uhm...did you happen to catch the part about "2005" in the article?

Is this really the first you've heard of this?

The NCAA essentially put restrictions on UI, and over the course of about 2 years, the combination of pressure and carrot-dangling got them to bend.

You know...kind of like when this topic was first beaten to death 2 years ago.

That and Dave Hart and Co. suing the NCAA. The NCAA buckled quick as fuck.

Actually, it said Illinois couldn't "host" postseason sporting events. The only sport that matters that they could possibly be banned from is baseball. Big 10 has no football playoff. If it did, it would probably be a neutral location. I guess the NIT in basketball would count but who gives a fuck? It's the NIT. The REAL tourney is always played at neutral courts.

So why cave? So you can host baseball regionals, NIT games and track and swim meets? 81 years of tradition trumps that.

True, but that doesn't rule out college facilities being used. This year, first and second round matchups are on campus at Lexington (Kentucky), Columbus (tOSU) and Winston-Salem (Wake Forest, although the Demon Deacons won't be in the dance this year). (Sidenote: also Chicago and Spokane, although I'm not sure they'll be using on-campus facilities for those sites.) The only prohibition is that the host school can't play at that site, or at another site which plays at the same time.

So Illinois could host the first and second rounds of the NCAA tourney. But if they did, the Illini would be playing elsewhere.

virtually half of the state of illinois has landmarks via the indians, and if you seen the dance, it's hardly offensive, christ, if you didnt have the halftime shit, 90% of kids wouldnt even know what a indian is, they think he's the guy owning your local 7 eleven.

The Illannoy fans are more concerned right now with the fact that their hoops players get drunk, drive into trees injuring a teammate and then leave the scene to try and sober up before any authorities are called. Fortunately the drunkard in question retained the legal services of the same lawyer who helped in another drunken teammates DUI case earlier this year.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."
