Where Is My Mind?, Everlong, Would and Gimme Shelter were four of a couple of dozen songs that immediately popped into my head. Good call, folks.

As for Metallica songs, the opening to One is badass. Rusty Cage is a nice call but I prefer the opening to Jesus Christ Pose from the same album.

I'll add London Calling by The Clash to the list as well as Teenage Riot by Sonic Youth.

Hell, I could list a hundred tunes.

Although "The Theme to The Last Waltz" doesn't have words, the very first part where the organ comes in an ascending crescendo before Robbie starts playing always gave me chills, especially when I watch it with the movie's opening credits.

I'm fairly certain that if I was stuck making a cross-country car trip with Truman, the tape/CD deck would have been torn from the dash and tossed out the window before we even crossed the first state line.

Actually, someone should make a mixed tape consisting of just the opening riffs of a bunch of songs.

Then it'd sound like that asshole found in most dorms who only knew how to play the beginning of umpteen songs ("Wish You Were Here" was a big fave of that dude...).

I thought about that, but that whole freaking album just seems to run together, as if it were one song for me. I put that disc on, and it's like a 43-minute song.

Sort of like on a mini-scale, Joe Satriani, "Midnight" leading into "Echo." They're listed as two separate songs, but might as well be the same with a decent intro.
